For nearly 15 years a former gang member has helped kids in Ocala get off the streets through boxing

OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) – Tito Ocasio grew up in Puerto Rico and got here to New York when he was 12. Together with his dad and mom being pastors he selected a distinct path.

“I didn’t have a damaged house I had good dad and mom, however I tousled you realize. I obtained into witchcraft, gangs, and all that loopy. I turned a gang chief I used to be with Latin king nation,” stated Ocasio.

The final time he was in jail he requested God to offer him a greater life and that’s what occurred, turning his focus to boxing.

Now for almost 15 years, he’s owned John 3:16 & 17 boxing membership getting youngsters off the streets and educating them about boxing and god.

“A few of these youngsters are gang members their not with gangs. They came visiting right here with drug issues they don’t do medication anymore. Don’t get me incorrect we misplaced some youngsters by the years. They died and went again to the streets, however we obtained youngsters that will nonetheless be gang members they’re not gang members. I obtained 17 people who went to the armed forces from the fitness center,” Ocasio added.

Luis Acevedo a coach on the fitness center stated Ocasio has modified his life.

“He informed me to come back to the fitness center and we’ll discuss and from there I obtained an novice license, I’ve knowledgeable boxing license and solely by the grace of God and he gave me alternatives and put me in entrance of people who I by no means thought in one million years I might meet.”

Ocasio stated he’ll proceed to get youngsters off the streets by boxing, so that they don’t go down the identical path that he did.
