Chris Eubank Jnr vs Conor Benn will not happen this Saturday (October 8)

AS anticipated, Saturday’s (October 8) battle between Chris Eubank Jnr and Conor Benn is off, following news of an adverse finding on a Benn performance-enhancing drug test and the British Boxing Board of Control’s decision to “prohibit” the bout as a result.

An announcement issued by Matchroom Boxing at 4pm this afternoon defined: “After discussions with numerous events, we’ve taken the choice to formally postpone the bout between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn.

“It’s simple that the British Boxing Board of Management’s resolution to withdraw their sanctioning was procedurally flawed and with out due course of. That is still a authorized problem between the promoters and the Board which we intend to pursue.

“Nonetheless, while there are authorized routes to facilitate the battle happening as deliberate, we don’t consider that it’s within the fighters’ pursuits for these to be pursued at such a late stage, or within the wider pursuits of the game. As promoters, we take our obligations and duties very critically, and a full investigation will now have to happen.  We can be making no additional remark presently and information for ticket holder refunds will observe.”
