In a thrilling night of heavyweight action, Efe Ajagba made a resounding statement at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas, NV, with a fourth-round technical knockout victory over Charles Martin. The bout, which headlined the Zuffa Boxing 03 card, showcased Ajagba’s power and determination, marking his return to the win column after a draw against Martin Bakole in his only fight of 2025.

The opening round saw both fighters cautiously feeling each other out, with neither landing significant blows. However, the pace picked up in the second round as Martin, moving predominantly off his back foot, connected with several straight punches that momentarily sent Ajagba backpedaling. The third round witnessed a shift in momentum as Ajagba unleashed a devastating straight right to the head, sending Martin to the canvas. Although Martin managed to rise, he was met with a barrage of hard shots that left him visibly shaken.

With the fight hanging in the balance, Ajagba seized the opportunity early in the fourth round, landing a series of punishing blows to Martin’s head. The former champion crumpled to the canvas for a second time, and despite his valiant efforts to continue, referee Thomas Taylor intervened to halt the contest at 1:11 of the fourth round. The victory marked Ajagba’s first stoppage win since his technical knockout of Joseph Goodall in 2023.

The undercard also delivered its share of excitement. Umar Dzambekov maintained his unbeaten record with a stunning second-round knockout of Ahmed Elbiali. A perfectly placed right uppercut sent Elbiali crashing to the canvas, prompting an immediate stoppage at 0:57 of the round. In another lightweight bout, Jaybrio Pe Benito continued his ascent in the ranks with a third-round knockout victory over Abel Mejia. Mejia, who had been dropped in the second round, succumbed to a right hand to the face in the third, leading to the referee’s intervention.

The evening’s events underscored the unpredictable nature of boxing, where a single punch can change the course of a fight. Ajagba’s triumphant return to form sets the stage for potential high-stakes matchups in the heavyweight division, while the undercard fighters demonstrated their prowess and promise for future bouts.
