In a night that will be etched in the memories of Canadian boxing enthusiasts, Ryan ‘The Bruiser’ Rozicki made a thunderous return to the ring, reaffirming his status as a formidable force in the cruiserweight division. The event, held at Centre 200 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, was a testament to Rozicki’s resilience and unwavering determination to claim the world title.

After a 15-month hiatus due to a torn right bicep and a series of fallen-through world title fights, Rozicki, now 31, faced off against Gerardo Mellado of Chile. The bout was a headline event presented by Three Lions Promotions, drawing a crowd of 1,200 eager fans. Rozicki, currently ranked No. 1 by the WBC and No. 5 by Ring Magazine, showed signs of ring rust in the initial round but quickly found his rhythm, delivering a devastating second-round technical knockout.

The second round saw Rozicki at his best, flooring Mellado and unleashing a relentless barrage of powerful combination punches. A series of vicious body shots took their toll, culminating in Mellado hitting the canvas once more, prompting the referee to wave off the fight. This victory marks Rozicki’s eighth unbeaten fight in Sydney, with six knockouts and one draw, boasting an impressive 95.25% career knockout ratio.

In a post-fight interview, Rozicki expressed his eagerness to return to the ring, stating, ‘I felt good in there. It took me a round to adjust, but I am ready for the world title fights. If I could, I would fight again tomorrow.’ His sights are firmly set on WBC Cruiserweight World Champion Noel Mikaelian, whom he has challenged five times without success. ‘I’ve earned that shot, and I would like to make it as soon as possible,’ Rozicki declared.

Daniel Otter, promoter for Three Lions Promotions, echoed Rozicki’s sentiments, emphasizing the fighter’s readiness for the biggest challenges in the cruiserweight division. ‘Ryan has made it very clear he wants Noel Mikaelian. That’s the fight we’ve been pushing for and the fight the fans deserve to see. If that opportunity comes, we’re ready,’ Otter stated.

With his sights set on Mikaelian and other top contenders like Jai Opetaia and Gilberto Ramirez, Rozicki’s return to the ring has sent a clear message: he is back and more determined than ever to make history as the first Canadian-born Cruiserweight Champion of the World. The boxing world watches with bated breath as Rozicki’s journey unfolds, promising more thrilling nights and unforgettable fights.
