The semi-finals of the Junior Boxing Championships delivered a thrilling night of action, with a series of unanimous decisions and stoppages that showcased the talent and determination of young pugilists. The event was a testament to the future of boxing, with each bout offering a unique display of skill and heart.

The evening kicked off with a display of dominance in the 27kg category, where Davie Joyce from Punishers outclassed Sean McGarry of Holy Trinity, securing a unanimous 5-0 victory. This set the tone for the night, as several bouts followed suit with identical scorelines.

The 31kg category saw a mix of unanimous decisions and split verdicts, with Lacinta Casey and Niamh Conlon edging out their opponents 3-2, while Joey Farrell and Hughie Joyce cruised to 5-0 victories.

The 33kg category was particularly noteworthy, with all three bouts ending in unanimous decisions. Ciara O’Doherty, Kimberly Barrett, and Son Casey each demonstrated their superiority, securing 5-0 wins. The trend continued in the 35kg category, where Kayla Thornton and Kayleigh Jennings both emerged victorious with 5-0 scorelines, while Barney Doherty and Charlie Kelly added their names to the list of winners with 4-1 and 5-0 victories, respectively.

The action intensified as the night progressed, with several bouts ending in stoppages. Leah McGonigle and Priya Clifford secured 5-0 and 4-1 victories in the 37kg category, while Josh Byrne’s bout ended in a first-round stoppage. The 38.5kg category saw Laurence O’Loughlin and Cody Duffy emerge victorious, with Duffy’s bout ending in a unanimous decision.

The 39kg category featured two dominant performances, with Cianna Collins and Cara Cramer each securing 5-0 wins. The 40kg category saw Charlie Cosgrave and Thomas O’Reilly continue the trend of unanimous decisions, while the 41kg category featured Ceilidh May Cassidy and Annabel Coade adding their names to the list of winners.

The second session of the semi-finals began with a series of unanimous decisions in the 43kg category, with Ella Lanney, Margaret McDonagh, and Paddy Purcell O’Reilly each securing 5-0 victories. The intensity continued with John Patrick McDonagh’s first-round stoppage and several more unanimous decisions in higher weight categories.
