In a bold statement that has sent shockwaves through the heavyweight division, Tyson Fury has proclaimed that rising star Moses Itauma would decisively outclass former WBC champion Deontay Wilder. Fury’s assertion comes amidst a flurry of speculation about potential matchups in the heavyweight category, with Wilder’s recent split-decision victory over Derek Chisora adding fuel to the fire.

Fury, known for his candid and often provocative statements, did not mince words when discussing Wilder’s future prospects. “Deontay Wilder is a shell of himself,” Fury remarked, suggesting that the once-feared knockout artist has lost his edge. “If you get knocked upside down, then it’s finished, it’s gone.” This stark assessment underscores Fury’s belief that Wilder’s best days are behind him.

Meanwhile, Wilder himself has expressed openness to facing Itauma, a young and undefeated British heavyweight who has been making waves in the boxing world. “I didn’t know who Moses was,” Wilder admitted. “I’ve seen some of his highlights. I saw his last fight against Franklin. So hey, why not test him out?” This statement from Wilder indicates a willingness to take on new challenges, even as questions about his own form persist.

Itauma, with a record of 14 wins (12 by knockout) and no losses, represents the new generation of heavyweight boxers. His recent technical knockout victory over Jermaine Franklin in March 2026 has further cemented his reputation as a formidable force in the division. In contrast, Wilder’s record stands at 45 wins (43 by knockout), four losses, and one draw, with his most recent victory being a contentious split decision over Chisora.

Fury’s comments also extend to Anthony Joshua, whom he has urged to bypass a potential fight with Wilder and instead focus on a blockbuster showdown with himself. “Forget Deontay Wilder, forget anybody else, let’s fight next!” Fury declared, emphasizing his eagerness to face Joshua in what would undoubtedly be a monumental clash.

As the heavyweight division continues to evolve, the potential matchups and rivalries are becoming increasingly intriguing. With Fury’s provocative statements and Wilder’s willingness to test new waters, the stage is set for a series of high-stakes encounters that could redefine the landscape of heavyweight boxing.

In the midst of these developments, one thing is clear: the heavyweight division is as unpredictable and exciting as ever. Whether it’s the rise of new talents like Itauma or the enduring presence of veterans like Fury and Wilder, the world of heavyweight boxing promises to deliver thrilling action and unforgettable moments in the months and years to come.
