Royston Barney-Smith Sets Sights on World Title Glory by 2027

In the electrifying world of boxing, few names are generating as much buzz as Royston Barney-Smith. The young prodigy is already making waves with his ambition to secure a world title shot by 2027. As he gears up for his next challenge against Conor McIntosh, the boxing community is watching closely.

Barney-Smith’s upcoming bout with McIntosh for the vacant British and Commonwealth super featherweight titles marks a significant step in his career. This fight follows his impressive victory last October, where he dominated the previously unbeaten WBO European super featherweight champion, Danny Quartermaine. The judges’ scorecards of 98-90 and 100-88 reflected Barney-Smith’s dominance in the ring.

At just 22 years old, Barney-Smith is one of the brightest prospects in the sport. His recent victory has only fueled his confidence and ambition. “I prepared for a much harder fight than what it was,” Barney-Smith admitted. “If I didn’t prepare the way I did, it wouldn’t have gone that far.”

The Dorset native is set to face McIntosh on the undercard of the highly anticipated rematch between Nathaniel Collins and Cristobal Lorente in Glasgow this Friday. Barney-Smith is feeling good and ready for the challenge. “I am expecting everything and more, but at the same time, I know I have prepared the best I can,” he stated.

Looking ahead, Barney-Smith has his eyes set on the grandest stages in boxing. “St Mary’s Football Stadium or the MGM Grand in Las Vegas,” he dreams. His goals include becoming the British, Commonwealth, and European champion, with aspirations to fight in an eliminator or for a full world title by the beginning of next year.

Barney-Smith’s amateur career was nothing short of stellar. He boasts two European gold medals, a European bronze, and an impressive record of 27 wins out of 28 international fights for England. His transition to the professional ranks has been seamless, thanks to the guidance of his coaches and promoters.

“It is almost like a racehorse really. You do want to push and go all the way from the start, but you need that jockey to hold them back and tell them when to go,” Barney-Smith explained. “That is where your coaches and your promoter have to hold you back. Every boxer wants to go as quick as they can. They know the full extent of what you can do and they will nurture your talent all the way until you get there.”

As Royston Barney-Smith continues his journey towards world title glory, the boxing world eagerly anticipates each step of his promising career.
