In the heart of Las Vegas, at the iconic MGM Grand Garden Arena, a thrilling showdown is set to unfold on March 28. The highly anticipated bout between Sebastian Fundora and Keith Thurman will headline a Premier Boxing Champions Pay-Per-View event, brought to you by TGB Promotions and Sampson Boxing. The stakes are high, with Fundora’s WBC super-welterweight world title on the line.

The original date for this clash was set for last October, but a hand injury to Fundora led to a postponement. Now, the stage is set for what promises to be an electrifying encounter.

Fundora, boasting a record of 23-1-1 with 15 KOs, last graced the ring when he halted Tim Tszyu, who retired after the seventh round. This victory solidified Fundora’s position among the elite in the super welterweight division. On the other hand, Thurman, with a record of 31-1 and 23 KOs, has a history of triumphs against top-tier fighters, including Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter. However, Thurman’s career has seen a lull in recent years due to injuries and inactivity. His return to the ring last March against Brock Jarvis, which he won by a third-round TKO, left fans questioning how much he has left in the tank.

Renowned boxing trainer Teddy Atlas has shared his insights on this world title clash. Atlas praised Fundora’s relentless jab and the pressure he brings to wear down opponents. He noted that Fundora is not afraid to get up close, making him effective with his uppercut and hook to the body. However, Atlas also pointed out that Fundora’s upright stance when closing in can provide a clear target for his opponents.

Regarding Thurman, Atlas described him as technically solid, naturally smaller but more physical. He highlighted Thurman’s use of jab and legs, his lateral movement, and his tendency to fight in spurts. Atlas also commended Thurman’s defensive skills, noting his head movement and ability to change range, although he sometimes allows opponents to put combinations together.

In making his prediction, Atlas emphasized Thurman’s desire as a crucial factor in the fight. Despite Thurman’s experience, Atlas ultimately concluded that the smart money should be on Fundora to emerge victorious.

As the date approaches, the excitement builds for what promises to be a memorable night of boxing. The clash between Fundora and Thurman is not just a fight for a title, but a battle of wills, skills, and determination. Who will prevail? Only time will tell.
