As the boxing world eagerly anticipates the high-stakes showdown between Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson on January 31 at the iconic Madison Square Garden, another compelling bout is set to steal the spotlight on the undercard. Jamaine Ortiz, boasting a record of 20-2-1 with 10 knockouts, is poised to face the undefeated Keyshawn Davis, who stands at 13-0 with 9 knockouts, in a super lightweight clash that promises fireworks.

Ortiz, riding a wave of three consecutive victories since his loss to Teofimo Lopez, exudes confidence as he prepares to step into the ring with Davis. “The moment this fight was offered, I said yes,” Ortiz declared. “I’ve never backed down from a challenge, and I’m not about to start now. I respect what Keyshawn has accomplished, but this is the kind of fight I’ve been waiting for, an opportunity to showcase everything I bring to the table against a top undefeated contender.”

Davis, who made headlines by stopping Denys Berinchyk to clinch the WBO lightweight title, faced a setback when he missed weight by a significant 4.3 pounds ahead of his title defense against Edwin De Los Santos. This misstep cost him his world title, adding a layer of intrigue to his upcoming bout with Ortiz. January 31 will mark Davis’ debut at 140 pounds, a move that Ortiz is quick to capitalize on.

“Fans can expect a sharp, confident, and aggressive Jamaine Ortiz on fight night,” Ortiz asserted. “I’ve learned from every fight and made the necessary adjustments. I’m coming into this with experience, hunger, and a game plan that’s built to win. Davis is stepping into my weight class, and he’ll find out quickly that it’s a different world at 140.”

The undercard also features a lineup of exciting matchups, including Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington vs Carlos Castro for the vacant WBC featherweight title, Carlos Adames vs Austin “Ammo” Williams for Adames’ WBC middleweight title, Jarrell Miller vs Kingsley Ibeh in a heavyweight bout, and Ziyad Almayouf vs Kevin Castillo in a welterweight clash.

As the boxing community gears up for an unforgettable night at Madison Square Garden, all eyes will be on Ortiz and Davis as they vie for supremacy in the super lightweight division. With Ortiz’s unwavering confidence and Davis’ determination to reclaim his status, this bout is sure to deliver a thrilling spectacle for fans worldwide.
