In a candid revelation, John Fury has shared his profound concerns regarding his son Tyson Fury’s impending return to the boxing ring. The heavyweight champion, known as ‘The Gypsy King,’ has been absent from the sport for over 13 months, with his last bout taking place in December 2024. This match marked Fury’s second consecutive loss to Oleksandr Usyk, prompting the 37-year-old to announce his retirement last January. Usyk had previously defeated Fury in May 2024, marking Fury’s first career loss.

Despite his retirement announcement, Tyson Fury has recently expressed his intention to make a comeback. In an exclusive interview, John Fury opened up about his son’s potential return and the implications it may have on his career and health. John Fury admitted, “I’ve made it quite clear I don’t want him to box again. As a father, I have to think sensibly; health comes first before wealth, fame, or anything.”

John Fury acknowledged the inevitable decline that comes with age, stating, “I know in my heart of hearts, at 37 or 38, he’s never going to be as good as he was five years ago, but neither is anybody else. They’re all getting older—Usyk’s even older—and like I say, it’s his call, but am I happy about it? No.”

John Fury speculated that his son’s motivation for a return might stem from boredom and a desire to stay active. He emphasized the importance of being selective about potential opponents, saying, “If he’s bored and he’s unhappy, and as long as we are sensible, we’ve got to be sensible about who he boxes and who he doesn’t box, and let’s see what we can do with it.”

John Fury’s concerns extend beyond the immediate risks of a comeback. He worries about the long-term health implications, stating, “It’s got to come to an end one day. One day it’s going to be over and there will be no comebacks, but maybe that’ll be too late. Maybe the damage will be done, and the video he made the other day is a stark reminder.”

As the boxing world awaits Tyson Fury’s next move, his father’s words serve as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices and risks inherent in the sport. The Fury family’s journey continues to captivate fans, with the hope that whatever decision is made, it will be in the best interest of Tyson Fury’s health and well-being.
