As the electrifying atmosphere of fight week envelops him once again, Oisin Treacy is reminded of his true calling—the boxing ring. The Wicklow warrior is set to make his much-anticipated return after a year-long hiatus, facing Jordan Grannum at the Proving Ground card in Leopardstown Racecourse this Saturday night. The closer the bout gets, the more Treacy realizes how much he has missed the thrill of the sport.

“It’s fantastic to be back—the entire buzz of fight week is creeping back in, reminding me of how much I love this,” Treacy shared in an exclusive interview. The prolonged absence was not by choice but rather a consequence of life’s unforeseen challenges. “I had no intention of being out of the ring that long,” he explained. “I ended up with two nasty cuts after the Gratti fight, which took a while to heal. I finished up my apprenticeship and started working for myself, so all my focus was on that. But now, it’s great to be settled and looking forward to getting back in the ring come Saturday night.”

Despite the extended break, the Bray native insists that retirement was never on his mind. “The words ‘I’m finished’ never came out of my mouth,” he asserted. “My focus was elsewhere for a while, but I always knew I’d end up back in the ring when the time was right—and that time is now.”

In the opposite corner will be Jordan Grannum, the experienced ‘Grafter,’ an opponent Treacy believes is ideal for shaking off the rust while still demanding sharpness. “Jordan’s a game opponent. He’s come over and taken wins in a couple of his previous fights—a man with great experience—so I’m looking forward to the challenge at hand on Saturday,” Treacy said.

The bout itself is scheduled for four rounds, a deliberate step to ease Treacy back into competitive action. However, a win could catapult him into title contention. “Yeah, I’m going to ease myself back in Saturday night with this four-rounder,” he said. “It’s been a long ten months out of the ring, so get this out of the way, and then I’ve spoken with Jay about a potential domestic opponent for the April card in the stadium.”

Treacy’s return is not just a personal triumph but a testament to the resilience and determination that defines a true fighter. As he steps back into the ring, he carries with him the hopes and aspirations of his supporters, ready to prove that he is far from finished. The stage is set, the gloves are laced, and Oisin Treacy is ready to reclaim his place in the boxing world.
