In a recent social media uproar, former UFC champion Nate Diaz launched a scathing attack on boxing sensation Devin Haney, adding fuel to the already heated discussions surrounding a potential rematch between Haney and Ryan Garcia. The two boxers first clashed in 2024, with Garcia initially securing a victory that was later overturned to a no contest due to a failed drug test.

The boxing community has been abuzz with calls for a rematch over the past two years, and it seems the anticipation is nearing its peak. Garcia, fresh off a dominant victory over Mario Barrios to claim the WBC welterweight world championship, has shown impressive form despite a surprising points loss to Rolando Romero prior to his fight with Barrios.

Haney, on the other hand, has also been on a remarkable run since their first encounter. He secured victories in both of his return fights, first against Jose Ramirez on the undercard of Garcia vs. Romero, and most recently dethroning WBO world champion Brian Norman Jr in a stunning performance.

Despite both fighters holding world titles at welterweight, Haney has expressed reservations about a rematch with Garcia. In a recent interview, Haney stated, “I do agree that he has 10 million followers and that is good and all. But at the end of the day, Ryan messed up the first fight. He basically just trumped the whole fight, he was acting like he was crazy. So can we really trust this guy to not do this again?”

Diaz, never one to mince words, responded to Haney’s comments with a blunt and expletive-laden retort, clearly disagreeing with Haney’s stance. “He scared the f*** out of you and beat your a**. What are you crying about?” Diaz’s comments have added a new layer of intrigue to the ongoing saga.

Meanwhile, Haney has hinted at a potential fight with Rolando Romero, the man who defeated Garcia. Haney took to his social media to reveal ongoing negotiations, stating, “My father spoke to Luis (Rolly’s manager). Rumours are true… Let’s see if we can get this done, inshallah.”

Garcia’s next move remains uncertain, but if he fights before a potential rematch with Haney, two names he continues to call out are Shakur Stevenson and new Zuffa Boxing signee Conor Benn. The boxing world watches with bated breath as these developments unfold, promising an exciting year ahead for the sport.
