In a highly anticipated lightweight bout, Raymond Muratalla is set to defend his IBF world title for the first time against the formidable Andy Cruz. The match is scheduled to take place at the luxurious Fontainebleau in Las Vegas this Saturday. Muratalla, boasting an unblemished record of 23-0 with 17 knockouts, claimed the interim IBF title last May with a unanimous decision over Zaur Abdullaev. The 29-year-old was subsequently elevated to full champion status following Vasiliy Lomachenko’s retirement.

Cruz, a 2020 Olympic gold medalist, has swiftly ascended the professional ranks, securing a mandatory title shot in just six bouts. The 30-year-old Cuban, training alongside WBA interim super welterweight champion Jaron Ennis, has impressed with three knockouts in his six victories. His last fight in New York saw him floor Hironi Mishiro twice en route to a fifth-round stoppage.

While Muratalla brings more professional experience to the ring, Cruz’s superior skills and Olympic pedigree make him a slight favorite. This maiden world title showdown promises to be a thrilling contest between an undefeated champion and an Olympic gold medalist.

In another exciting matchup, Khalil Coe will defend his WBC USA light heavyweight title against former two-time world title challenger Jesse Hart. The bout, originally scheduled for October, was postponed due to a hand injury suffered by Coe. Coe, with a record of 10-1-1 and 8 knockouts, bounced back from a defeat to Manuel Gallegos by stopping him in an immediate rematch last May.

Hart, with a record of 31-3 and 25 knockouts, has won five consecutive fights since a split decision loss to Joe Smith Jr in 2020. His previous world title attempts at super middleweight were against Zurdo Ramirez. Coe’s confidence from his last performance against Gallegos could be the key to overcoming the durable Hart.

Additionally, Israil Madrimov aims to return to winning ways at middleweight after successive defeats to Terence Crawford and Vergil Ortiz Jr. Madrimov, with a record of 10-2-1 and 7 knockouts, has been sidelined since his loss to Ortiz last February due to knee and shoulder surgery. He faces Luis David Salazar, who has a record of 20-1 and 7 knockouts, in what appears to be a safe comeback fight for Madrimov.

The undercard features promising talents such as Harley Mederos, a super lightweight with a record of 9-0 and 8 knockouts, and Olympic bronze medalist Omari Jones, who has a perfect record of 4-0 with 4 knockouts. Both fighters are expected to deliver impressive performances as they continue their professional journeys.
