On April 4, the O2 Arena in London will be the epicenter of the boxing world as Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora headline a thrilling Misfits Pro card, presented in association with Queensberry Promotions. The event, which will be streamed live on DAZN, has just added a tantalizing European cruiserweight title fight to its undercard.
The newly announced bout will see British cruiserweight champion Viddal Riley step into the ring with Polish veteran Mateusz Masternak. Riley, with an unblemished record of 13-0 and 7 KOs, will be facing his toughest challenge yet as he vies for Masternak’s European cruiserweight title.
A victory for Riley would significantly bolster his credentials and propel him closer to a world title shot. Riley’s last outing was on the undercard of the Chris Eubank vs Conor Benn event, where he delivered a masterclass in boxing, securing a unanimous decision victory over Chev Clarke with scorecards of 115-113, 116-112, and 117-111.
Riley’s adaptability and poise in the ring have been hallmarks of his career. He has demonstrated an ability to box effectively both on the front foot and the back foot, making him a versatile and formidable opponent. Masternak, however, brings a wealth of experience to the table. With a record of 50-6 and 33 KOs, the Polish fighter has shared the ring with the likes of Tony Bellew and Chris Billam-Smith, operating at a high level throughout his career.
This fight represents a significant step up for Riley, but it is a challenge he is eager to embrace. Reacting to the fight confirmation, Riley stated, “It’s a new dawn. It’s a new chapter. MF PRO is the launch of a new beginning in my career, and there’s no better way to enter this stage than with another difficult test.”
He continued, “I’ve decided to challenge a seasoned veteran and former world title contender for his EBU Cruiserweight title. This is pivotal on the climb into world honors, and I expect a test, but one I am more than capable of shining through.”
Masternak, equally excited about the fight, shared his thoughts: “I’m really pleased this fight is happening. It’s a tough challenge, and in my opinion, he’s a better fighter than Billam-Smith—even better than Bellew. I took this fight because I truly believe he’s the best British cruiserweight out there right now.”
He added, “I’m excited to be part of such a big event and to have the chance to perform in front of a large audience. I’m fully motivated and ready—I’m going there to defend my title and bring my belt back home.”
The Wilder vs Chisora event promises to be a night of high-stakes action, with the added European cruiserweight title fight between Riley and Masternak set to deliver an exciting undercard bout. Boxing fans around the world will be eagerly awaiting the results of this thrilling matchup.
