As the final bell rings on 2025, it’s time to reflect on a year that delivered some of the most electrifying and unforgettable boxing matches in recent memory. The sweet science once again proved why it remains one of the most captivating sports in the world, with a mix of established titans and rising stars stepping into the ring to create moments that will be etched in boxing lore forever.

The year was marked by two distinct rankings that captured the essence of the sport’s competitive spirit. The first, a meticulously curated list by a panel of seasoned boxing aficionados, rated bouts based on a star system and chronological order. The second, a democratic reflection of the fans’ voices, listed the top 10 fights of the year as voted by the very people who make boxing the spectacle it is.

Topping the fans’ ranking was the highly anticipated rematch between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitrii Bivol, a bout that lived up to its hype and then some. The light heavyweight division showcased its depth and talent, with Christian Mbilli’s clash against Lester Martinez and David Benavidez’s showdown with David Morrell further highlighting the division’s prowess.

The lower weight classes were not to be outdone, with Kenshiro Teraji and Seigo Yuri Akui delivering a masterclass in the lighter divisions. Meanwhile, the super flyweight and bantamweight divisions saw Fernando Martinez and Kazuto Ioka, as well as Kai Watanabe and Reo Saito, respectively, engage in battles that left fans on the edge of their seats.

The heavyweight division, always a fan favorite, saw Joseph Parker and Fabio Wardley trade leather in a bout that had the boxing world talking. The welterweight and super welterweight divisions were not to be overlooked, with Isaac Cruz Gonzalez and Angel Fierro, as well as Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Israil Madrimov, putting on performances that will be remembered for years to come.

As we look back on the year that was, it’s clear that 2025 was a banner year for boxing. The sport’s ability to captivate and inspire was on full display, with each fight telling its own unique story of triumph, defeat, and the unyielding human spirit. Here’s to the fighters who made it all possible, and to the fans who continue to make boxing the incredible spectacle it is.

While we celebrate the fights that made the cut, it’s important to acknowledge that not every bout could be included. The beauty of boxing lies in its subjectivity, and what may be a forgettable fight to one, could be a masterpiece to another. This is where the fans come in, their voices and votes shaping the narrative of the sport and ensuring that the best fights are recognized and celebrated.

As we turn the page on 2025, we do so with a sense of excitement and anticipation for what the future holds. The sport of boxing is alive and well, and if this year was any indication, the best is yet to come.
