In a bold move that has sent ripples through the boxing community, Cian Lewis, the Navan native, has thrown down the gauntlet to Teo Alin, the current BUI Celtic super featherweight champion. Lewis, who recently secured his tenth professional victory at Leopardstown Racecourse, is eager to elevate his career by facing more formidable opponents in the coming year.
At just 22 years old, Lewis has been vocal about his aspirations to step up his game and compete for meaningful titles. His latest triumph has only fueled his ambition, and he sees Alin as the perfect adversary to test his mettle. “Let’s get it on,” Lewis declared. “You have two opponents for the Celtic title, so let’s get it on. Or if not, he’d have to vacate it.”
Lewis has been candid about the challenges he has faced in finding willing opponents at featherweight. He is now considering a move up to super featherweight to pursue his title dreams. “It’s been difficult for me at featherweight… maybe let’s step up to super featherweight,” he explained. “I’ll step up, we’ll fight for the Celtic title at no problem… I’m up for anything. I’m ready now. This is my year.”
The young boxer’s frustration is palpable, as he emphasizes the urgency of his situation. “It is frustrating… because it’s all career boxing, you know. Every year matters—it’s not a typical nine-to-five,” he said. “Let’s get as many fights as possible while I can.”

Despite a relatively quiet year in 2023, Lewis insists he has remained in peak condition and is ready to build momentum. “Even though I had one fight last year, I always say I’m always working, so I’m always ready,” he stated. “Good start—let’s just keep the ball rolling, keep the fights coming.”
