In a surprising revelation that has sent shockwaves through the boxing community, Terence Crawford, the former undisputed super middleweight champion, has disclosed that the hardest punch he ever faced came from a welterweight fighter, not from the larger Canelo Alvarez.

Crawford, who moved up two weight classes to challenge Canelo for his undisputed super middleweight title at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas in September 2025, shared this unexpected insight. Many pundits and fans alike had speculated that the size and power advantage would be too much for Crawford to overcome. However, Crawford’s revelation puts a new spin on the narrative.

While Crawford did not name the specific 147lb fighter who delivered the hardest punch, his admission has sparked a flurry of speculation and debate among boxing enthusiasts. This revelation is particularly intriguing given that Crawford has faced some of the most formidable opponents in the sport, including his recent victory over Canelo Alvarez by unanimous decision.

Crawford’s professional career, which began in March 2008 with a first-round knockout against Brian Cummings, has been marked by numerous accolades and memorable fights. His victory over Canelo Alvarez not only showcased his skill and determination but also solidified his place among the boxing greats.

In related news, current WBO junior welterweight champion Shakur Stevenson recently shared his list of the top five boxers of all time, which included Terence Crawford, Floyd Mayweather, Pernell Whitaker, Andre Ward, and Sugar Ray Leonard. Stevenson, who boasts an impressive record of 25 wins (11 by knockout) and no losses, captured the WBO junior welterweight title in a unanimous decision victory over Teofimo Lopez in January of this year.

Meanwhile, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has not ruled out the possibility of a rematch with Russian Dmitry Bivol, who holds multiple light heavyweight titles. Bivol, who won their first encounter by decision, has continued to dominate the light heavyweight division, most recently becoming the undisputed champion with a majority decision victory over Artur Beterbiev in February 2025.

As the boxing world continues to buzz with these developments, one thing is clear: Terence Crawford’s legacy and impact on the sport remain as powerful as ever. His revelation about the hardest punch he ever faced only adds to the mystique and allure of his storied career.
