In a recent turn of events, Eddie Hearn, the chairman of Matchroom Boxing, has responded to Dana White’s provocative remarks following Conor Benn’s decision to join Zuffa Boxing. The move, which involves a one-fight deal worth a staggering $15 million, has sparked a war of words between the two prominent figures in combat sports.

Benn’s transition from Hearn’s Matchroom to White’s Zuffa Boxing has been met with accusations of disloyalty from Hearn, who has been a steadfast supporter of the 29-year-old boxer, especially through his challenging times, including two failed drug tests that delayed his highly anticipated bout with Chris Eubank Jr.

Dana White, never one to mince words, mocked Hearn, questioning his character and claiming that he could have matched the offer made to Benn. “Is there a bigger p**sy than Eddie Hearn?” White remarked. “This guy’s supposed to be your friend. You’re crying, he made more money. He had the right to match it. He could have matched it. We’re literally beating up babies.”

Hearn, known for his emotional investment in his fighters, fired back at White, defending his passion and dedication to the sport. “I am an emotional guy when it comes to what I do,” Hearn stated. “If I get upset when I feel like someone’s betrayed me, I don’t think it makes me a p**sy, I just carry emotion towards what I do. Have you ever seen him make a prat out of himself like I do when someone wins? No, because all it is for him is a business.”

Hearn emphasized that his involvement in boxing goes beyond mere business; it is a passion that drives him. “For me, it’s a passion. It’s a business as well, but it’s something that I love. If a fighter goes against me like that, I am emotional. It doesn’t make me a p**sy, it just means I care.”

Conor Benn is set to face former two-time super lightweight world champion, Regis Prograis, on the undercard of Tyson Fury’s comeback bout against Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11. The fight will be contested at 150 pounds, a slight deviation from the 160 pounds at which his previous fights with Eubank Jr. were held.

Originally expected to headline the inaugural Zuffa UK show, Benn’s bout with Prograis will instead take place on a Ring Magazine card at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the very site of his two memorable contests with Eubank Jr. This venue holds significant history for Benn, as it was where he secured his first victory as a professional after an initial loss.

The ongoing feud between Hearn and White adds an extra layer of intrigue to Benn’s upcoming fight, making it a must-watch event for boxing enthusiasts. As the date approaches, all eyes will be on Benn to see how he performs under the new banner and whether this move will prove to be a turning point in his career.
