In a night that was as much about heart as it was about sport, Bobbi Flood made his professional boxing debut, delivering a performance that was both powerful and poignant. The young fighter from Cabra stepped into the ring on a recent Anthony Cacace Queensberry card, marking the beginning of his professional journey with a resounding stoppage victory. This triumph was not just a personal achievement, but a deeply emotional tribute to his family.

The timing of Flood’s debut was particularly significant. Falling on his 21st birthday, the victory was a perfect gift to himself. However, the date held an even deeper meaning. The fight took place on the eve of Mother’s Day, a day that carries immense emotional weight for Flood, who lost his mother at a young age. Boxing became a cornerstone in his upbringing, thanks to his father, and the sport has since been a way for him to honor his family’s memory.

“I’d like to dedicate this fight to my ma and my granddad. You can see on the shorts—mam on the front, grandad on the back,” Flood shared in a post-fight interview. The significance of the date was not lost on him. “People always talk about timing in boxing. For my pro debut to fall on my 21st birthday is one thing, but for it to be Mother’s Day the next feels special. It just feels like a nice little touch from my ma at the same time.”

Flood’s victory was more than just a winning start; it was a tribute to those closest to him, a moment he had dreamed of and worked tirelessly to achieve. The support from his community was overwhelming, and Flood made sure to acknowledge their role in his journey. “Unbelievable support. A great crowd. I just want to say a big shout-out to everyone that came out and bought tickets off me. Big shout out to all my sponsors as well, because without them it wouldn’t be possible.”

Trained by Stephen Smith, Flood began his professional career with a bang, stopping Bela Istvan Orban within the first round. This impressive start is a clear indication of his intentions in the professional ranks. Flood is eager to maintain a busy schedule and continue producing knockouts. “Whatever Queensberry offer, I’m going to take it. I just want to stay busy, stay as active as possible,” he said. “Hopefully by the end of the year, finish off 5-0, 6-0… five or six knockouts. That’s all I want.”

As Bobbi Flood embarks on his professional boxing journey, he carries with him the memories and support of his family. His debut victory is not just a testament to his skill and determination, but also a heartfelt homage to the loved ones who have shaped his life and career. The young fighter’s future looks bright, and his story is one that resonates with the power of family and the spirit of perseverance.
