Seattle Showdown: Adesanya vs. Pyfer – Weigh-In, Media Day Insights, and Betting Odds

Seattle, Washington (March 26, 2026) — The stage is set for an electrifying night of mixed martial arts as UFC Fight Night: Adesanya vs. Pyfer, also known as UFC Fight Night 271, descends upon the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington, this Saturday, March 28, 2026. The main event features a five-round middleweight bout between the former champion and current #4-ranked contender, Israel Adesanya, and the #14-ranked challenger, Joe Pyfer.

Israel Adesanya, aged 36, boasts an impressive record of 24-5, while the 29-year-old Joe Pyfer enters the octagon with a 15-3 record. Adesanya, despite a recent three-fight skid, remains a slight favorite in the betting odds, ranging from -135 to -148. Pyfer, on the other hand, is seen as the underdog with odds of +114 to +124.

Adesanya’s reach advantage of 5 inches and his reputation as one of the UFC’s top strikers make him a formidable opponent. Analysts suggest that Adesanya’s strategy should involve surviving the early rounds and capitalizing on Pyfer’s potentially fading cardio in the later rounds. Maintaining lateral movement to avoid being pinned against the fence will be crucial for Adesanya, as Pyfer’s “heavy hands” are most dangerous in such positions.

Pyfer’s finishing ability is a key weapon, with 13 of his 15 wins coming via stoppage. Film study indicates that Pyfer could exploit openings by timing Adesanya’s stance switches and blitzing before Adesanya can plant his feet. Pyfer averages 72.8 seconds of control time per 15 minutes, significantly higher than Adesanya’s 29.1 seconds. Adesanya’s historically elite takedown defense will be put to the test by Pyfer’s aggressive wrestling and “fast shot,” which he often uses to initiate clinch work against the cage.

The co-main event of the evening is a highly anticipated women’s flyweight rematch between former champion and #3-ranked Alexa Grasso and #5-ranked Maycee Barber. Grasso, known for her crisp boxing and technical grappling, is seeking her first win since her historic 2023 victory over Valentina Shevchenko. Her last fight, a loss to Natalie Silva in May 2025, has only fueled her determination to return to the win column.

Maycee Barber, on the other hand, is riding a seven-fight winning streak and has shown significant improvements in her wrestling and clinch work since their first meeting. Their initial bout at UFC 258 in February 2021 saw Grasso emerge victorious by unanimous decision. This time around, Barber is a slight favorite in the betting odds to win the rematch.

The main card, scheduled to start at 8 PM ET, features a lineup of thrilling matchups:

    • Israel Adesanya (24–5–0) vs. Joe Pyfer (15–3–0) – Middleweight Main Event
    • Alexa Grasso (16–5–1) vs. Maycee Barber (15–2–0) – Women’s Flyweight Co-Main Event
    • Michael Chiesa (19–7–0) vs. Niko Price (16–10–0) – Welterweight
    • Julian Erosa (31–13–0) vs. Lerryan Douglas (13–5–0) – Featherweight
    • Mansur Abdul-Malik (9–0–1) vs. Yousri Belgaroui (9–3–0) – Middleweight
    • Terrance McKinney (17–8–0) vs. Kyle Nelson (17–6–1) – Lightweight

The preliminary card, starting at 5 PM ET, includes:

    • Ignacio Bahamondes (17–6–0) vs. Tofiq Musayev (22–6–0) – Lightweight
    • Chase Hooper (16–4–1) vs. Lance Gibson Jr. (9–2–0) – Lightweight
    • Marcin Tybura (27–10–0) vs. Tyrell Fortune (17–3–0) – Heavyweight
    • Casey O’Neill (10–2–0) vs. Gabriella Fernandes (11–3–0) – Women’s Flyweight
    • Navajo Stirling (8–0–0) vs. Bruno Lopes (14–2–0) – Light Heavyweight
    • Ricky Simon (22–7–0) vs. Adrian Yanez (17–6–0) – Bantamweight
    • Alexia Thainara (13–1–0) vs. Bruna Brasil (9–4–1) – Women’s Strawweight

Fans can expect a night filled with high-octane action and unforgettable moments as these warriors step into the octagon to prove their mettle.
