In a stunning display of skill and power, Moses Itauma etched his name in the annals of boxing history last night by becoming the first fighter to stop Jermaine Franklin. This monumental victory has left the boxing world abuzz with speculation about the young prodigy’s next move. At just 21 years old, Itauma has proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with in the heavyweight division.

Dubbed the ‘989 Assassin,’ Franklin was widely regarded as the toughest challenge of Itauma’s burgeoning career. However, the young sensation rose to the occasion, delivering a masterclass in the ring. The fight, which ended in the fifth round, marked Itauma’s longest bout since his six-round contest against Kostiantyn Dovbyshchenko in 2023.

When asked about his future plans, Itauma expressed interest in a bout with Filip Hrgovic, who is currently scheduled to face Dave Allen. “I wanted the Hrgovic fight, but he is boxing Dave Allen, so we will see,” Itauma stated, leaving fans eager for what might come next.

Promoter Frank Warren, known for his keen eye for talent, shared his optimism about Itauma’s future. “He fought a tough fighter, broke him down, and did what nobody else has done,” Warren remarked. He further expressed confidence that Itauma would claim a world title before the end of 2026, adding, “I am very confident he will fight for a world title this year.”

While neither Warren nor Itauma explicitly named potential opponents, several intriguing possibilities have emerged. One such name is Agit Kabayel, the German heavyweight who currently holds the WBC interim title. Kabayel is the mandatory challenger for Oleksandr Usyk’s WBC title, and a fight with Itauma could be a tantalizing prospect for fans. However, given Kabayel’s long-awaited shot at the title, he may be hesitant to risk his position.

Kabayel himself has shown admiration for Itauma, stating, “He is young, he is good, you know he is fresh, but I think all styles make fights. When this fight comes, Kabayel vs Itauma, why not? For the fans, it is good. I am ready for everyone, you know I say this. Why not?”

As the dust settles on Itauma’s impressive victory, the boxing world eagerly awaits his next move. With a world title seemingly within reach, the future looks brighter than ever for this young heavyweight sensation.
