In a surprising turn of events, Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero has publicly accused Conor Benn of walking away from a scheduled bout at the Barclays Center on May 30. The fight, which was reportedly agreed upon before falling through, has left fans and analysts speculating about the future of both fighters.

Romero, known for his outspoken nature, did not stop at accusing Benn. He also named several other high-profile fighters, including Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia, and even the legendary Manny Pacquiao, as potential opponents for his next bout. This bold move by Romero has certainly stirred the pot in the welterweight division.

Conor Benn, the 29-year-old welterweight contender, recently made headlines with his unanimous decision victory over Regis Prograis. The fight, held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in front of a massive crowd of approximately 60,000, marked Benn’s first bout under his new promotional deal with Zuffa Boxing. This lucrative agreement has positioned Benn as a commercially attractive figure in the UK, with his last three fights drawing huge gates at outdoor stadiums in London.

Benn’s victory over Prograis has opened up a plethora of possibilities for his next fight. Among the potential candidates are WBO champion Devin Haney, Brian Norman, and Rolando Romero himself. Each of these fighters presents a unique challenge, and whoever Benn faces next, be it Garcia, Romero, Haney, or Teofimo Lopez, the English boxer can expect a tougher fight than his recent bout with Prograis.

The drama between Benn and Ryan Garcia has also been a topic of interest. Benn recently branded Garcia a ‘coward’ after being called out by the American following his victory over Prograis. This verbal spat has added an extra layer of intrigue to the already complex landscape of the welterweight division.

Regis Prograis, who announced his retirement after the fight with Benn, had warned that Benn’s ‘gamble’ would backfire. The fight, which was set at a 150lb catchweight with no rehydration limit, was widely seen as being on Benn’s terms. However, Prograis remained confident in his abilities, stating, ‘I know I’m better,’ before the fight.

As the dust settles on Benn’s victory and the accusations from Romero, the boxing world eagerly awaits the next chapter in this unfolding saga. One thing is certain: the welterweight division is as exciting and unpredictable as ever.
