In a highly anticipated bout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on April 11, 2026, Conor Benn secured a unanimous decision victory over Regis Prograis. However, Benn’s performance has left many questioning his future in the welterweight division. The fight, which was a co-main event to Tyson Fury’s return against Arslanbek Makhmudov, saw Benn struggling more than expected against the 37-year-old Prograis, who was fighting above his usual weight class at a 150 lb catchweight.

Benn, with a record of 25-1 and 14 KOs, was expected to dominate the fight. Instead, he found himself in a grueling 10-round battle. Although Benn maintained a forward momentum throughout the fight, he was unable to break down Prograis or force a decisive shift in his favor. Despite closing the fight on the front foot, Benn lacked the impact needed to dispel any doubts about his performance.

Prograis, a former super-lightweight world champion, had warned that Benn’s “gamble” would backfire. Fighting at a catchweight with no rehydration limit, Prograis believed the terms favored Benn. However, he remained confident in his ability to win, stating, “They definitely did set it on his terms but for me, I know I can win.” Prograis’s experience and resilience were evident as he held his own against the younger Benn.

Meanwhile, Tyson Fury’s return to the ring after a 2025 hiatus was met with high expectations. Fury, with a record of 34-2-1 and 24 KOs, faced Arslanbek Makhmudov in the main event. Unlike Benn, Fury showed signs of shaking off the rust, reminding fans of his prowess in the heavyweight division. Fury’s performance was a stark contrast to Benn’s struggle, highlighting the difference in their respective fights.

The undercard also featured other notable bouts, including a 10-rounder between Benn and Prograis, which was one of the most high-profile undercard bouts without a major title on the line. Liverpool prospect Tallon made a return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, securing his second career stoppage against Fezan Shahid. Additionally, Gorman, a cousin of Tyson Fury and the great-nephew of legendary bare-knuckle boxing champion Bartley Gorman, added to the excitement of the evening.

As Benn calls for a WBC-ordered fight against Ryan Garcia, his recent performance has raised concerns about his readiness to face top names at 147. While Benn’s victory against Prograis adds to his record, the struggle has left fans and analysts alike questioning his future in the welterweight division. In contrast, Fury’s return has reignited hopes of his regaining the top spot in the heavyweight division.
