Carl Froch Urges Anthony Joshua to Skip Warm-Up and Face Tyson Fury Immediately

In a bold statement that has sent shockwaves through the boxing community, former super middleweight champion Carl Froch has called for Anthony Joshua to bypass a warm-up fight and dive straight into a highly anticipated showdown with Tyson Fury. The call comes after Fury’s recent victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov, where he once again challenged Joshua to step into the ring with him.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has been adamant about the two-time heavyweight champion having a warm-up bout before facing Fury. Hearn revealed that they have received a two-fight deal from Saudi Arabian boxing chief Turki Alalshikh, culminating in a mega battle against Fury in November. However, Froch believes that the 36-year-old Joshua should seize the moment and face Fury now, rather than risk the fight falling through as it has in the past.

“It’s past its sell-by date, but it’s still a big fight,” the 48-year-old Froch stated on his YouTube channel. “These two should just get on with it, get in there and get this fight made. All this pre-fight warm-up is totally unnecessary. It’s going to kill it.”

Froch’s concerns are not without merit. He warns that if Joshua takes a warm-up fight, even against a lesser opponent, there’s a risk of injury that could delay the Fury bout even further. “If AJ has a warm-up fight, even if he’s fighting someone who’s a knock over, he might get injured and he’ll need two or three months out. Then he’ll need a three-month training camp, this fight gets further and further away from happening. This fight needs to happen now. If it’s going to happen, it’s now or never for me,” Froch emphasized.

Joshua has not fought since his sixth-round knockout of Jake Paul in Miami last December. Just ten days after that victory, Joshua was involved in a fatal car crash that resulted in minor injuries for him but tragically took the lives of two of his close friends. Despite this setback, Joshua has returned to his training camp in Spain, alongside former foe Oleksandr Usyk, as he prepares for a likely return to the ring in July.

The boxing world now waits with bated breath to see if Joshua will heed Froch’s advice and skip the warm-up fight to face Fury in what promises to be one of the most explosive heavyweight clashes in recent history.
