In a recent turn of events, French heavyweight Tony Yoka has shared his disappointment following the cancellation of his highly anticipated bout with Lawrence Okolie. The fight, scheduled to take place in Paris, was called off after Okolie failed a VADA test, reportedly due to the presence of GHRP 2 and its M8 metabolite, a synthetic substance known to stimulate the release of Human Growth Hormone.

The cancellation came just days before the scheduled match, leaving Yoka, 33, in a state of frustration and disappointment. “I was really looking forward to this fight,” Yoka expressed in a recent interview. “I was fully prepared and ready to step into the ring. The timing of this incident couldn’t have been worse.”

Yoka further elaborated on the significance of the missed opportunity, stating, “This fight was a crucial step for me. A victory would have significantly boosted my career trajectory. That’s why I’m so upset about the entire situation.” Despite his disappointment, Yoka understands the business aspects of the sport and the necessity of the cancellation.

Looking ahead, Yoka’s team is already exploring new opportunities. He is expected to return to the ring either on the undercard of the Fabio Wardley vs. Daniel Dubois match on May 9 in Manchester or on the Dave Allen vs. Filip Hrgovic bill on May 16 in Doncaster.

Meanwhile, Lawrence Okolie, the number one contender for Oleksandr Usyk’s WBC title, has vowed to clear his name. In a recent statement, Okolie explained that he had been undergoing treatment for an elbow injury sustained during training camp. “I am fully cooperating with all relevant authorities and am confident that any investigation will clear my name,” Okolie stated. He expressed hope that the situation would be resolved swiftly and thanked his supporters for their understanding.

The boxing community now awaits further developments as both fighters navigate this unexpected setback. Yoka’s resilience and determination remain unwavering as he prepares for his next challenge, while Okolie focuses on clearing his name and returning to the ring.
