In a disappointing turn of events for boxing enthusiasts, the highly anticipated match between Jarred ‘Big Baby’ Anderson and Solomon Dacres has been cancelled. The fight, scheduled as an undercard for the Fabio Wardley vs. Daniel Dubois championship bout on May 9, has been called off due to an injury sustained by Anderson during training camp.

Anderson, known for his impressive start in the professional boxing world with 17 wins under his belt, was looking to bounce back after his first career loss in 2024. The American heavyweight suffered a torn bicep, forcing him to withdraw from the contest. This setback comes after Anderson’s recent co-promotional deal with Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, adding to his existing partnership with Top Rank.

The 26-year-old last fought in February 2025, securing a 10-round decision victory over Marios Kollias. Anderson’s journey has been marked by a stellar rise and a recent setback, making his comeback story one to watch. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait longer to see how Anderson plans to rebound from his defeat against Martin Bakole.

For Solomon Dacres, this cancellation means a delay in his return to the ring following an impressive decision victory over Vladyslav Sirenko. Both fighters, each with only one defeat to their names, were set to use this bout as a gauge of their current standing in the heavyweight division. Dacres’ sole loss came in 2024 against David Adeleye, and he has since been eager to prove his mettle.

Despite the cancellation of the Anderson-Dacres fight, the main event in Manchester will proceed as planned. Fabio Wardley is set to defend his WBO heavyweight title for the first time against Daniel Dubois. Wardley, who remains unbeaten, claimed the title after a stoppage win over Joseph Parker. Dubois, with a knockout ratio of 95%, presents a formidable challenge, promising an electrifying showdown.

The main event is expected to be a thrilling encounter, with both Wardley and Dubois boasting impressive knockout records. Wardley has notable stoppage wins over Justis Huni, Frazer Clarke, and Joseph Parker, while Dubois has triumphed over Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua. Fans can anticipate a high-stakes, action-packed bout between these two heavyweight powerhouses.

As of now, there have been no updates regarding the rescheduling of the Anderson-Dacres fight. Boxing aficionados will have to stay tuned for further announcements.
