In a dazzling display of power and precision, Ben Whittaker continued his unbeaten streak at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, dispatching Argentina’s Braian Nahuel Suarez in less than a round. The light heavyweight bout, scheduled for ten rounds, was a testament to Whittaker’s growing prowess in the professional ranks.

The evening was initially slated to be headlined by Callum Smith against David Morrell, but an injury to Smith elevated Whittaker to the main event, a role he embraced with aplomb. Whittaker, an Olympic silver medalist, has been making waves since his Matchroom debut last November, where he swiftly defeated Benjamin Gavazi. Suarez, known for his previous encounter with Lyndon Arthur, entered the ring with a record of 21-4, including 20 knockouts.

From the opening bell, Whittaker asserted his dominance. A thunderous right hand in the first round sent Suarez crashing to the canvas, leaving him unable to recover. The referee’s count was a mere formality as Suarez lay motionless, marking another emphatic victory for Whittaker.

The undercard also delivered its share of excitement. Joe McGrail, in his first ten-round bout, showcased his mettle with a fifth-round knockout of Aaron Hayden, securing the Central Area super bantamweight title and the WBA Continental Gold belt. McGrail’s body shot was a thing of beauty, demonstrating his growing maturity in the ring.

In other action, Molly McCann went the distance for the first time in her career, edging out Ashleigh Johnson in a competitive eight-round bout. McCann’s 78-74 victory was a hard-fought triumph, showcasing her endurance and skill. Stephen Clarke, despite being knocked down in the fourth round, rallied to defeat Luis Enrique Montelongo Morales with a score of 78-73.

The heavyweight division saw Leo Atang go the distance for the first time, earning a 59-54 victory over Viktar Chvarkou. Atang’s performance was a testament to his stamina and determination. Meanwhile, Jack Power and Tom Rafferty continued their winning streaks with stoppage victories in their respective middleweight bouts.

In the sole four-rounder of the evening, Sam Norris dominated Jahfieus Faure, securing a shutout points win at super featherweight. The night was a resounding success for the home crowd, with Whittaker’s star shining the brightest. His lightning victory has cemented his status as a rising force in the light heavyweight division, leaving fans eagerly anticipating his next appearance in the ring.
