In the world of boxing, records can often be deceiving, and Liam Walsh, the undefeated prospect from Kerry, is a testament to this truth. As he prepares to face Eoghan Lavin on the highly anticipated Queensberry card in Dublin this Saturday, Walsh is hopeful that his opponent is focusing solely on his professional record, which he believes makes for “misleading reading.”

Walsh’s record, marked by two draws and a period of inactivity, might suggest vulnerabilities to some. However, the fighter insists that these statistics do not reflect the growth and transformation he has undergone. “I know they’re looking at my record, my inactivity, and the two draws,” Walsh shared. “Hopefully, that all plays into my favor.”

The Kerry native has shared sparring rounds with Lavin in the past, giving both fighters a glimpse into what awaits them on fight night. But Walsh is confident that recent changes in his lifestyle and training have elevated him to a new level. Since his last fight, Walsh has launched his own personal training business, a move that has brought structure and focus to his daily routine.

“I’m living in the gym now. It’s completely different,” Walsh explained. “I’m training people, getting my own sessions in, and my life is literally just boxing.” This newfound dedication and passion for the sport have fueled Walsh’s desire to prove himself in the ring.

After experiencing several fight cancellations over the past year, Walsh was eager to accept the opportunity to compete on a major St. Patrick’s weekend card. “It wasn’t long—we got the call and the same day we took it,” he said. “We’ve been training for fights like this for years, so I can’t wait to go.”

Despite the competitive stakes, Walsh maintains that there is no bad blood between him and Lavin. “We’ve sparred before. There’s no problem there. It’s just two undefeated fighters going in to show their talent.” With talks of a possible title being attached to the bout and a packed Dublin crowd expected, Walsh sees this fight as a chance to demonstrate that his record does not define him.

“My job is just to stay ready and turn it on fight night,” Walsh stated. “If they’re judging me off the record alone, we’ll see how that works out for them.” As the boxing world eagerly awaits the clash between these two undefeated prospects, one thing is certain: Liam Walsh is ready to rewrite his story and prove that there is more to him than meets the eye.
