In a bold declaration that has sent ripples through the heavyweight division, Daniel Dubois has announced his eagerness to step back into the ring with none other than Tyson Fury and Fabio Wardley in his sights. The British heavyweight, who last fought in July of the previous year, is determined to reclaim his status among the elite of the division.
Dubois’ last bout ended in a fifth-round stoppage against Oleksandr Usyk in London, a fight that was for the undisputed heavyweight world championship. Since that setback, Dubois has made a significant change in his camp, moving from Don Charles to Tony Sims. Sims, who has been working closely with Dubois, shared his enthusiasm about the young fighter’s progress.
“He is doing really well, is Daniel,” Sims stated. “He is blending in really well. We just want a fight date now. We are really excited; he is still really young. He is only 28, he is still a youngster. I just want to see him get in the ring and get back in the frame.”
When asked about a potential clash with Queensberry stablemate Fabio Wardley, who currently holds the WBO heavyweight world title, Dubois did not hesitate to express his interest. Wardley, who became interim champion after his victory over Joseph Parker in October and was upgraded to full world champion in December, could be a viable option for Dubois’ comeback.
“If they want it, then yeah, bring it on. I cannot wait,” Dubois said. “If Frank makes that fight, then I will be delighted. I will jump at that opportunity.”
Dubois, a former IBF world champion, revealed that his primary mission for the year is to become a two-time heavyweight champion. He achieved his first world title in September 2024 with a knockout victory over Anthony Joshua, a career-best performance that showcased his immense potential.
“2026 is about getting that title back,” Dubois declared. “You only get out what you put in. I have not even hit my prime yet. I just need to get a few things right, and I will be lethal.”
In addition to Wardley, Dubois has also shown interest in facing Tyson Fury. Fury, who has been retired for over 13 months, has recently revealed plans to make a return to the ring in April. Despite Fury’s recent losses to Oleksandr Usyk, a fight against the former champion remains an enticing prospect for Dubois.
“Tyson Fury, whoever,” Dubois said. “Yeah, definitely, all of the big names. I have fought them all. I just want to fight all the big names in 2026.”
With his sights set on the biggest names in the heavyweight division, Daniel Dubois is poised to make a significant impact in 2026. His determination and ambition are clear, and the boxing world will be watching closely as he prepares to make his comeback.
