In a bold and strategic move, Zuffa Boxing has secured the signature of the undefeated Jai Opetaia in a co-promotional agreement with Tasman Fighters. This development has sent ripples through the boxing community, signaling a new chapter in the Australian’s illustrious career. Opetaia, boasting an impressive record of 29-0 with 23 knockouts, has consistently demonstrated his prowess in the ring, notably in his grueling victories over Mairis Briedis. As we approach 2026, the anticipation for Opetaia’s debut under the Zuffa banner is palpable.

Zuffa Boxing, a collaborative venture between TKO and Sela, is spearheaded by a formidable leadership team. This includes Dana White, the president and CEO of UFC; Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority and owner of The Ring; Dr. Rakan AlHarthy, the managing director and CEO of Sela; and WWE president Nick Khan, who also serves on the TKO board. The company’s ambition to revolutionize the sport is evident, not only through their high-profile signings but also through their proposed amendments to the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act, which have sparked considerable debate.

Opetaia’s enthusiasm for his new partnership with Zuffa is evident. In a recent social media post, he expressed his excitement for the future, emphasizing his eagerness to secure significant fights and unify the division. His statement, “Pumped for the future. Exciting times. Let’s get these big fights over the line. Unification, undisputed, soon. Let’s go,” resonates with the anticipation of his fans and the boxing community at large.

Looking ahead to 2026, Opetaia’s schedule is already shaping up to be a thrilling one. Reports indicate that he is on the verge of finalizing a fight against Brandon Glanton on March 8, marking his inaugural bout under the Zuffa and Tasman Fighters co-promotion. Opetaia’s last appearance in the ring was a spectacular knockout victory over Huseyin Cinkara in December 2025. A win against Glanton would not only be a impressive debut for Zuffa but also open the door to unification opportunities, a goal that Opetaia richly deserves.

Zuffa’s willingness to collaborate with the governing bodies is a positive sign. Mick Francis of Tasman Fighters has confirmed that the company is supportive of Opetaia’s quest to win more titles and unify the division. This commitment to working within the existing framework bodes well for Opetaia’s future prospects.

As Zuffa Boxing continues to make waves in the sport, with plans to organize high-profile fights such as a potential bout between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua in 2026, the stage is set for an exciting year. The company’s recent event in Las Vegas, featuring a lineup of talented fighters, is a testament to their commitment to delivering top-tier boxing action. With the addition of Jai Opetaia to their roster, Zuffa Boxing is poised to make a significant impact on the sport, and fans can eagerly anticipate the thrilling matches that lie ahead.
