Keyshawn Davis Shifts Focus to New Opponent After Haney Negotiations Stall

In a surprising turn of events, former WBO lightweight champion Keyshawn Davis has set his sights on a new target after negotiations with Devin Haney hit a dead end. Davis, who secured the WBO lightweight title with a knockout victory over Denys Berinchyk a year ago, saw his reign cut short but remains determined to reclaim his status in the boxing world.

The anticipated showdown between Davis and Haney had fans on the edge of their seats, but the lack of progress in negotiations has led Davis to explore other opportunities. This development comes as Bill Haney, father and trainer of Devin Haney, recently listed potential opponents for his son, including names like Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, Shakur Stevenson, Conor Benn, and Ryan Garcia. Interestingly, Keyshawn Davis was also mentioned, although it seems that bout is now off the table.

Devin Haney, who last fought in November 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, defeating Brian Norman by unanimous decision, boasts an impressive record of 33 wins with 15 knockouts and no losses. However, the young champion’s future plans do not seem to align with Keyshawn Davis’s aspirations.

Meanwhile, the boxing world is abuzz with other potential mega-fights. Conor Benn, after signing with new promoter Zuffa Boxing, has expressed his desire for high-profile matches against Ryan Garcia, Shakur Stevenson, or even Devin Haney. Benn has also shown interest in a rematch with Chris Eubank Jr, this time at super-middleweight.

Ryan Garcia, on the other hand, is doubling down on his quest to fight Shakur Stevenson at 140 pounds. Garcia, who recently won the WBC welterweight title by defeating Mario Barrios, is determined to face Stevenson on the latter’s turf. Despite his previous struggles with making weight, Garcia is confident he can meet the 140-pound limit without a rehydration clause.

As the boxing landscape continues to evolve, Keyshawn Davis’s decision to move on from the stalled Haney negotiations opens up new possibilities for exciting matchups. Fans can look forward to a dynamic year ahead, filled with potential clashes that could redefine the sport.
