In the realm of heavyweight boxing, few names have been generating as much buzz as Moses Itauma. The young prodigy, touted by many as a future world champion, was slated to make his highly anticipated return to the ring on January 24 against the seasoned American fighter Jermaine Franklin. However, in a recent turn of events, Itauma’s camp has announced that an injury sustained during training has led to the postponement of the entire fight card.

Itauma, boasting an impressive record of 13-0 with 11 knockouts, has had a stellar year in 2025. His victories over Mike Balogun and Dillian Whyte have solidified his reputation as a formidable force in the heavyweight division. The 21-year-old sensation was expected to face Franklin, a tough and experienced opponent with only two losses on his record, both against top-tier fighters Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua.

Franklin, with a record of 24-2 and 15 knockouts, has proven his mettle in the ring. His most notable victory came against Ivan Dychko on a high-profile undercard, and many believe he was robbed of a win against Whyte. The upcoming bout against Itauma was seen as a litmus test for the young British star, with many predicting that Franklin would push Itauma to his limits.

The official announcement stated, ‘Moses Itauma has sustained an injury in camp for his fight with Jermaine Franklin on January 24. Due to this, the entire Magnificent 7 show has been postponed and rescheduled to March 28 at the Co-op Live in Manchester.’

All eyes are now on the new date of March 28, where Itauma will aim to make history by becoming the first fighter to stop Franklin. The fight card for the evening includes several other exciting matchups:

    • Moses Itauma vs Jermaine Franklin, 10 rounds, heavyweights
    • Willy Hutchinson vs Ezra Taylor, 10 rounds, light heavyweights
    • Zak Miller vs Liam Davies, 10 rounds, featherweights
    • Shakiel Thompson vs Brad Pauls, 10 rounds, middleweights
    • Nathan Heaney vs Gerome Warburton, 10 rounds, middleweights
    • Aqib Fiaz vs Jordan Flynn, 10 rounds, lightweights
    • Alex Murphy vs Josh Holmes, 10 rounds, lightweights
    • Nelson Birchall vs Ryan Griffiths, 8 rounds, super featherweights
    • Aadam Hamed vs Kasey Bradnum, 4 rounds, super lightweights
    • John Joe Carrigan vs Danny Costello, 4 rounds, super welterweights

Fans and analysts alike will be eagerly awaiting the rescheduled bout, ready to witness what promises to be a thrilling night of boxing.
