In a recent statement that has sent shockwaves through the boxing community, Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero has boldly claimed that he was operating at just 50% of his capacity during his bout with Devin Haney, and yet, it still wasn’t enough for Haney to secure a victory. This assertion has added fuel to the already intense rivalry between the two fighters.

Romero’s comments come at a time when the boxing world is abuzz with various high-profile feuds and potential matchups. Notably, WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia and WBO welterweight titleholder Devin Haney have been engaged in a heated exchange on social media. Garcia, known for his knockout power, has accused Haney of being fearful, particularly in regards to drug testing. Haney, on the other hand, has responded by challenging Garcia to sign up for rigorous drug testing protocols.

The tension between Garcia and Haney reached a boiling point in April 2025, when the two met in the ring in Brooklyn, USA. Garcia initially emerged victorious with a unanimous decision, but the result was later overturned due to a failed drug test, leading to the fight being ruled a no-contest. Despite this setback, Garcia’s professional record remains impressive with 25 wins, including 20 by knockout, and only two losses. Haney, meanwhile, boasts an unblemished record of 33 wins, with 15 coming by way of knockout.

Adding to the intrigue, Garcia has recently named his next opponent as former world champion Teofimo Lopez. Garcia, who retained his WBC title by defeating Mario Barrios in his last fight, has expressed his eagerness to face Lopez. Lopez, however, is coming off a loss to Shakur Stevenson earlier this year, which marked the second defeat of his career and cost him his WBO junior welterweight belt. While there has been no official confirmation of the Garcia-Lopez fight, the potential matchup has already generated significant interest among boxing fans.

In other boxing news, Sebastian Fundora delivered a devastating performance against Keith Thurman at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The fight drew considerable attention, with Claressa Shields openly rooting for Fundora’s victory. Shields’ comments have added another layer of drama to the ongoing narrative in the boxing world, highlighting the intense rivalries and personal feuds that often transcend the sport itself.

As the boxing landscape continues to evolve, the statements and actions of these high-profile fighters are sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats. Whether it’s Romero’s bold claims, Garcia’s provocative social media exchanges, or the potential showdowns on the horizon, the world of boxing remains as unpredictable and thrilling as ever.
