In a significant development within the boxing world, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) has officially canceled the purse bid for the highly anticipated bout between Callum Smith and David Morrell. This decision comes after both camps successfully reached an agreement, paving the way for what promises to be an electrifying matchup.

The cancellation of the purse bid signifies a mutual understanding and agreement between the two parties, ensuring that the fight can proceed without further delays. This news has sent ripples of excitement through the boxing community, as fans eagerly await the clash between these two formidable fighters.

In other boxing news, the much-anticipated showdown between Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson is set to captivate audiences. Lopez, the current WBO super lightweight champion, will defend his title against Stevenson, who is stepping up from the lightweight division. Stevenson, the WBC lightweight champion, aims to make history by becoming a four-division world champion. The preliminary bouts are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. ET, with the main card kicking off at 8:00 p.m. ET on DAZN pay-per-view. The main event, featuring Lopez and Stevenson, is expected to start around 11 p.m. ET.

Meanwhile, former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has announced his return to the ring, set to face Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11. Fury, known for his charismatic personality and formidable skills, expressed his excitement about the upcoming bout, stating, “Heart’s always been and always will be in boxing. Someone go tell the king that the ace is back!” This fight marks Fury’s comeback after his recent loss to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024. Makhmudov, with an impressive record of 21 wins (19 by KO) and two losses, is expected to provide a challenging matchup for Fury.

The winner of the Fury vs. Makhmudov bout is anticipated to receive a high world ranking, according to WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman. Sulaiman emphasized that as a former champion, Fury has certain rights and privileges, and the winner of this fight will undoubtedly be highly ranked in the WBC. This adds an extra layer of significance to the bout, as both fighters will be vying for a chance to re-establish themselves at the top of the heavyweight division.

As the boxing world gears up for these thrilling matchups, fans can look forward to a series of high-stakes battles that promise to deliver excitement and drama. Stay tuned for more updates and in-depth analysis as these stories continue to unfold.
