In a thrilling night of boxing on February 22 at the iconic Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Claressa Shields showcased her prowess once again, this time against the formidable Franchón Crews-Dezurn. The event, a collaboration between Salita Promotions and 313 Presents, saw Shields defend her undisputed heavyweight title in a fight that captivated audiences worldwide.

Shields, with an impeccable record of 18-0 and 3 KOs, delivered a dominant performance against Crews-Dezurn, who entered the ring with a record of 10-3 and 2 KOs. The two fighters had previously met in 2016, but this bout was a testament to Shields’ growth and skill. From the opening bell, both fighters exhibited energy and determination, but it was Shields’ precision and strategic prowess that ultimately set her apart.

As the rounds progressed, Shields’ superior technique and cleaner punches dictated the tempo of the fight. Despite Crews-Dezurn’s occasional powerful shots, Shields maintained control, culminating in a unanimous decision victory with scores of 100-90 across the board.

Following the fight, Terence Crawford, a prominent figure in the boxing world, shared his thoughts on Shields’ performance. “She did amazing. Man, what more can I say? She’s the greatest woman alive,” Crawford remarked. When asked about Shields’ future prospects, Crawford expressed his confidence in her abilities to choose her path. “Whatever she wants to. She’s the woman in charge. She’s the baddest woman on earth. She can pick her fights; she can do whatever she wants,” he added.

In her post-fight interview, Shields reflected on her strategy and the challenges posed by Crews-Dezurn. “I felt like I had to take my time. Franchon hits hard, she’s tough, and you have to be tricky with her,” Shields explained. She acknowledged the intensity of the fight, stating, “She was trying to call the upset. She’s the heavy-hitting diva, and that’s one of the best fights I’ve been in. I had to watch my ass every round.”

Shields also discussed her tactical approach, highlighting her focus on timing and body shots. “I wanted to make sure I got her timing, her jab. Franchon has a really good stick. When she puts it out there, the right hand comes after it. But I showcased my skills, body shots. She just wouldn’t go,” she said. Shields expressed her desire to face new challenges, mentioning potential future bouts with Shadasia Green and Mikaela Mayer. “I’d go down and fight against her. Franchon still has belts at 168. So you might see Shields vs. Crews-Dezurn 3!” she exclaimed, adding, “I’d fight Mikaela Mayer too, absolutely.”

As Claressa Shields continues to dominate the women’s boxing scene, her victory over Franchón Crews-Dezurn stands as a testament to her skill, determination, and unwavering spirit. With the support of figures like Terence Crawford and her own ambitious goals, Shields’ future in the sport looks brighter than ever.
