    Nearly three months have passed since Tom Aspinall’s heavyweight title clash with Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi. The fight, which took place at the Etihad Arena, ended prematurely in the first round when Gane accidentally poked Aspinall in both eyes, leaving the champion unable to continue.

    The bout was declared a no contest, allowing Aspinall to retain his title, but the aftermath has been far from straightforward. The 32-year-old Brit has been dealing with impaired vision, necessitating surgery and an extended period away from training.

    Aspinall described the recovery process as ‘a nightmare,’ highlighting the complexities involved in treating eye injuries compared to other physical ailments. ‘Been a bit of a long process because with eyes, like with other injuries, they just fix them straight away.
