Tyson Fury Forecasts Victor in Upcoming Wilder vs. Chisora Heavyweight Bout

In a recent development that has set the boxing world abuzz, Tyson Fury, the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King,’ has shared his insights on the impending heavyweight showdown between Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora. The duo is reportedly in the final stages of negotiations for an April bout in London, and Fury, having faced both fighters three times each, offers a unique perspective on the potential outcome.

Fury, who is gearing up for his own ring return in April following a brief retirement, has expressed his belief in Chisora’s ability to secure a stoppage victory against the former heavyweight champion, Wilder. In a video shared on social media, Fury stated, ‘I’ve just learned that Chisora and Deontay Wilder are set to square off. I believe this is an excellent matchup. Having fought both of these men three times each, I have firsthand experience of their capabilities.’

The 37-year-old Fury, who dethroned Wilder as the WBC champion with a stoppage victory in their February 2020 rematch, has a history of competitive bouts with both fighters. His encounters with Chisora, although victorious, were less dramatic, with Fury comfortably winning all three. However, his third fight with Wilder in October 2021 saw Fury rise from the canvas twice to retain his title.

Chisora, a seasoned veteran with 49 professional fights under his belt since his 2007 debut, has announced his intention to retire after his 50th bout. Despite the current heavyweight titles being held by Oleksandr Usyk (WBA, WBC, and IBF) and Fabio Wardley (WBO), Fury insists that a world title should be on the line for the Wilder vs. Chisora fight.

‘There should be a belt up for grabs,’ Fury asserted. ‘We have two legendary fighters here: a world champion with ten title defenses from the USA and an absolute warlord from the United Kingdom, who has never shied away from a challenge and would have been a formidable heavyweight in any era, Derek Chisora. A belt should be on the line.’

Wilder, who was initially expected to face Usyk later this year, has seemingly chosen to take on Chisora instead. Fury’s own journey has seen its share of twists and turns, with his second loss to Usyk prompting a retirement announcement last January, only for the Morecambe native to reverse his decision earlier this month.

As the boxing community eagerly awaits the official confirmation of the Wilder vs. Chisora fight, Fury’s prediction has added an extra layer of anticipation to this heavyweight clash.
