In the electrifying world of heavyweight boxing, the prospect of a clash between Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua continues to captivate fans and pundits alike. Following Wilder’s thrilling split-decision victory over Derek Chisora on April 4th at London’s O2 Arena, the boxing community is abuzz with renewed speculation about a potential showdown between these two titans of the ring.

Eddie Hearn, a prominent figure in the boxing world, has reiterated that a bout between Wilder and Joshua remains a significant and lucrative possibility. Hearn, who was present at the O2 Arena, expressed his enjoyment of Wilder’s performance and hinted at the financial and competitive allure of a matchup with Joshua, one of the heavyweight division’s most bankable stars.

Wilder, never one to shy away from a challenge, wasted no time in calling out Joshua after his victory over Chisora. The American heavyweight, with a record of 45-4-1, made his intentions clear as he walked past Joshua, fist-bumped him, and uttered the words, “Let’s do it.” This brief but charged exchange has set the boxing world alight with anticipation.

Joshua, who holds a record of 29-4 and has won five of his last six fights, has been a long-standing rival of Wilder. The two former champions have never faced each other in the ring, despite their paths crossing multiple times. A unified heavyweight championship bout between them was once a dream matchup, but it never materialized due to various setbacks, including Wilder’s loss to Tyson Fury and Joshua’s defeats to Oleksandr Usyk.

Hearn, who was with Joshua during the exchange with Wilder, has stated that Joshua would have no problem facing Wilder. This assertion adds another layer of intrigue to the potential bout, as fans eagerly await confirmation of a fight that could define the heavyweight division.

Wilder, known for his charismatic and often provocative statements, later addressed the exchange, claiming that Joshua is “scared as f–k.” Such bold statements only serve to heighten the anticipation and drama surrounding a potential matchup.

As the boxing world looks ahead to December 2025, the possibility of a Wilder vs. Joshua bout looms large. Both fighters have expressed interest in facing each other, and the stage seems set for a monumental clash. For now, fans can only wait and speculate, but the excitement and anticipation are palpable.

In the meantime, both Wilder and Joshua will continue to prepare and compete, knowing that the possibility of a historic showdown remains very much alive. The heavyweight division has never been more exciting, and a bout between these two giants would undoubtedly be a crowning moment in the sport.
