In a display of sheer boxing prowess, Carlos Adames defended his WBC middleweight title against Austin Williams in a unanimous decision victory at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida. The fight, which headlined a stacked Matchroom Boxing card, was a testament to Adames’ superior experience and skill.

From the opening bell, it was clear that both fighters came prepared to engage. The first round saw a flurry of straight punches from both corners, setting the tone for what promised to be an exciting bout. However, the second round took a dramatic turn when Adames, with precise timing and accuracy, dropped Williams twice with powerful right hands. Despite Williams’ shaky legs, Adames was unable to secure the finish, demonstrating both his patience and strategic acumen.

Throughout the fight, Adames showcased his ability to pick the right moments to land his hardest shots. Williams, although game and willing to throw power punches, found himself on the receiving end of Adames’ more accurate and calculated strikes. The sixth round was particularly telling, as both fighters engaged in a wild exchange with over two minutes remaining. Williams emerged worse for wear, visibly exhausted and struggling to keep up with Adames’ relentless pressure.

Williams had brief moments of success, particularly in the tenth round where he managed to back Adames up with a series of power shots to the head. However, Adames quickly recovered and resumed his dominance, picking apart his opponent with ease. A point deduction in the twelfth round for a low blow did little to dampen Adames’ spirits or affect the final outcome of the fight.

Adames’ amateur experience and higher level of competition clearly showed through. His ability to control the pace, press forward, and land the more significant blows was evident throughout the bout. The judges’ scorecards of 118-108 and 117-109 (twice) reflected Adames’ dominance, securing his third successful defense of the WBC middleweight title.

The undercard also delivered exciting action. Omari Jones remained undefeated with a unanimous decision victory over Christian Gómez in an eight-round super welterweight clash. Corey Marksman continued his winning streak with a unanimous decision over Jaycob Gómez in a ten-round lightweight contest. Teremoana Teremoana made a statement with a first-round knockout against Curtis Harper, further solidifying his place in the heavyweight division.

Adames’ victory is a clear indication of his growing stature in the middleweight division. His ability to adapt, strategize, and execute under pressure sets him apart as a true champion. As he continues to defend his title, the boxing world eagerly awaits his next challenge.
