In a thrilling display of skill and determination, Lauren Price successfully defended her WBC, IBF, and WBO welterweight titles against the previously undefeated Stephanie Pineiro Aquino in a grueling 10-round bout at the Cardiff International Arena on Saturday, April 4, 2026. The fight, which drew a packed crowd, lived up to its billing as a clash of titans in the women’s welterweight division.

Price, the reigning champion with an unblemished record of 9-0-0 (2 KOs), faced a formidable challenge in Pineiro, who entered the ring with a perfect 10-0-0 (3 KOs) record. From the opening bell, Pineiro showed her intent to disrupt Price’s rhythm, throwing powerful punches and testing the champion’s resolve. However, Price’s superior speed and technical prowess allowed her to dictate the pace of the fight.

The bout was a bloody and bruising affair, with both fighters exchanging heavy blows. Price, known for her defensive skills and counter-punching ability, found herself in several intense exchanges. Despite the onslaught, she managed to maintain her composure and control the center of the ring.

As the fight progressed, Price’s experience and championship pedigree became evident. She effectively used her jab to keep Pineiro at bay and landed precise combinations that kept the challenger guessing. Pineiro, however, refused to back down and continued to press forward, landing several significant shots that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats.

In the final round, Price, ahead on the scorecards, showcased her maturity by managing the distance and avoiding unnecessary risks. The judges’ scorecards reflected her dominance, with scores of 98-92, 99-91, and 98-92 all in favor of Price, securing her a unanimous decision victory.

Following the fight, Price expressed her desire for a future showdown with Claressa Shields, a bout that would undoubtedly be a blockbuster in the world of women’s boxing. With this hard-fought victory, Price has solidified her position as one of the top pound-for-pound female fighters in the world.

The co-main event featured a heavyweight clash between Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora, adding to the excitement of the evening. Other notable bouts included Denzel Bentley vs. Endry Saavedra for the vacant WBO interim middleweight title and Tim Tszyu vs. Denis Nurja in a middleweight contest.

As the boxing world looks ahead, Lauren Price’s triumphant performance has set the stage for even bigger and more challenging fights. Her promoter, Ben Shalom, has hinted that Price could be the number one pound-for-pound female fighter by the end of the year, a testament to her skill, determination, and unwavering spirit.
