Cian Doyle, the Dublin-born boxer, is steadily regaining his form after a prolonged hiatus from the ring. His recent victory marks his second win since ending a three-and-a-half-year sabbatical, and Doyle is confident that the ring rust is finally behind him. The Crumlin-trained fighter’s performance against Erick Omar Lopez showcased a marked improvement from his comeback bout earlier this year.

“I felt significantly better this time around compared to my fight in February,” Doyle remarked. “It wasn’t a case of nerves last time, but rather adjusting to the rhythm of the ring after such a long break. This time, I felt more at home, more composed.”

Doyle’s approach against Lopez was notably more patient and calculated. “I was thinking more clearly in there,” he explained. “Last time, I was rushing a bit. This time, I let things come to me, and when you think more, the shots come better.” His opponent, a durable and awkward fighter, tested Doyle’s patience, but the Dubliner remained controlled and stuck to his game plan.

“He was tough, very tough,” Doyle acknowledged. “He comes forward and invites you onto the ropes, so he was hard to read. But I felt like I boxed well and stuck to the plan better this time.”

With two fights now under his belt since his return, Doyle is eager to stay active and continue his upward trajectory. “I think May 30th might be the next one,” he revealed. “Definitely looking at a summer date anyway—just keep things moving.”

Looking ahead, Doyle has his sights set on domestic competition. One name on his radar is Bayo Alabi, who is due to fight in Scotland in the coming weeks. For now, Doyle is backing his fellow Dubliner but is open to the idea of a future derby meeting. “I wish him the best of luck,” Doyle said. “I’ll be rooting for him. He’s more than capable of winning.”

However, looking further ahead, Doyle is not ruling out the possibility of sharing the ring with Alabi. “Yeah, definitely a fight down the line, please God,” he said.

Doyle’s resurgence is a testament to his dedication and patience. As he continues to rebuild his sharpness, the boxing community will be watching closely to see how far this determined fighter can go. His journey is a reminder that sometimes, the path to success is not about rushing, but about taking measured steps forward.
