In the realm of women’s boxing, few names resonate as powerfully as Amanda Serrano. On January 3rd, 2026, at the iconic Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Serrano once again demonstrated her prowess in the ring, defending her WBA and WBO featherweight titles against the undefeated Reina Tellez. This bout was not just a fight; it was a statement, a testament to Serrano’s enduring legacy and the bright future of women’s boxing.

    The Road to the Ring

Amanda Serrano, a seven-division world champion, entered the ring with an impressive record of 47-4-1, including 31 knockouts. Her journey to this fight was marked by a significant victory over Stevie Morgan in July 2024, followed by two closely contested battles with Katie Taylor. Despite these setbacks, Serrano’s determination and skill remained unshaken, setting the stage for her showdown with Tellez.

Reina Tellez, on the other hand, brought an unblemished record of 13-0-1, with 5 knockouts, into the ring. Ranked as the No.15 in the women’s super-bantamweight division, Tellez had earned her shot at the title with victories over Perla Lomeli, Maria Salinas, and Mayela Perez. Her youth and undefeated status made her a formidable opponent, but the experience and skill of Serrano were not to be underestimated.

    The Fight Night

The atmosphere at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente was electric as the two fighters made their way to the ring. The crowd, filled with passionate boxing enthusiasts, eagerly anticipated the main event of the evening. The bout was scheduled for 10 rounds, and from the opening bell, it was clear that both fighters were prepared to leave everything in the ring.

Serrano, known for her aggressive style and powerful punches, quickly took control of the fight. Her experience and technical prowess were evident as she landed precise combinations and effectively countered Tellez’s advances. Tellez, however, showed remarkable resilience and determination, refusing to back down despite the relentless pressure from Serrano.

As the rounds progressed, Serrano’s dominance became increasingly apparent. Her ability to read Tellez’s movements and exploit openings in her defense was a masterclass in boxing strategy. Tellez, to her credit, continued to fight with heart and determination, but the experience and skill of Serrano proved to be too much to overcome.

    The Decision

When the final bell rang, it was clear that Serrano had done enough to secure the victory. The judges’ scorecards reflected her dominance, with scores of 97-93, 98-92, and 97-93 all in favor of Serrano. The unanimous decision was a testament to her skill, experience, and unwavering determination.

    The Significance

This victory was more than just another title defense for Amanda Serrano. It was a statement to the world of women’s boxing that she remains a force to be reckoned with. Her ability to adapt, overcome challenges, and consistently perform at the highest level is a testament to her greatness. For Reina Tellez, this fight was a valuable learning experience, one that will undoubtedly fuel her growth and development as a boxer.

The fight between Amanda Serrano and Reina Tellez was a night to remember, a celebration of the skill, determination, and heart that define the sport of boxing. As the crowd filed out of the Coliseo Roberto Clemente, they carried with them the memory of a true champion, a warrior who continues to inspire and captivate the world of boxing.
