In an intriguing turn of events, the Chavez legacy is set to continue as Omar and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. prepare to headline a boxing event in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. The highly anticipated card, scheduled for Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the Arena Potosi, promises to be a thrilling spectacle for boxing enthusiasts worldwide.

The announcement, which has sparked considerable interest, was made public on the World Boxing Council’s official platform. The event will be broadcast live on Box Azteca, starting at 5 P.M. local time. Adding to the allure, the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., a Hall of Fame multi-division world champion, will be in attendance to support his sons.

Despite the excitement, details surrounding the event remain shrouded in mystery. The card has yet to appear on the global BoxRec schedule, leaving questions about the sanctioning, the number of bouts, and the round schedules unanswered. Nevertheless, the WBC has confirmed the event’s occurrence, adding a layer of legitimacy to the proceedings.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., aged 39 and hailing from Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, boasts an impressive record of 54-7-1 with 34 knockouts. The former WBC Middleweight champion is set to make his comeback following a controversial 10-round decision loss to Jake Paul and subsequent deportation from the United States. Chavez Jr. is slated to face Julian Angel, a relatively unknown fighter with a record of 10-1-1 and four knockouts. However, details about Angel remain scarce, as he is not listed on BoxRec.

Omar ‘The Businessman’ Chavez, the younger brother of Julio Jr., will also be making his return to the ring. With a record of 41-9-1 and 28 knockouts, the 36-year-old has shown remarkable resilience, with all his losses coming by decision. Omar is set to face Jose Miguel ‘Mochuelito’ Torres, a seasoned fighter from Magangue, Colombia, with a record of 40-23 and 31 knockouts. At 46, Torres brings a wealth of experience to the ring, promising a compelling matchup.

The Chavez brothers’ return to the ring has generated significant buzz, and fans are eagerly awaiting what promises to be an unforgettable night of boxing. The event not only highlights the enduring legacy of the Chavez family but also underscores the rich boxing tradition of Mexico.
