In a surprising turn of events, Conor Benn, the British welterweight sensation, has announced his departure from Matchroom Boxing and signed with Zuffa Boxing. This marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new, exciting chapter in Benn’s professional career.

Benn, who turned professional in 2016, has had a tumultuous journey filled with both triumphs and tribulations. His career faced a significant setback in 2022 when a highly anticipated fight with Chris Eubank Jr. was cancelled due to failed drug tests. Benn subsequently embarked on a rigorous campaign to clear his name, culminating in a memorable comeback fight where he and Eubank Jr. finally faced off. Although Benn lost the first bout, he dominated the rematch, showcasing his resilience and determination.

In a heartfelt statement, Benn expressed his gratitude to Eddie Hearn and the entire team at Matchroom Boxing. He acknowledged their support and guidance over the past decade, from his early days as a professional to headlining stadium shows. Benn’s statement read, “I want to thank Eddie and the entire team at Matchroom for everything they’ve done for me. They stood by me during the highs and the lows, and for that, I will always be grateful. However, Zuffa Boxing presented me with an opportunity I simply couldn’t refuse.”

Benn’s move to Zuffa Boxing has sparked excitement and speculation about his future. Reports indicate that he has signed a one-fight, eight-figure deal, with plans to compete in the United Kingdom in April or May. This transition also means that Benn will now be fighting under the Zuffa banner on Paramount+, a significant shift from his previous association with DAZN.

Dana White, the prominent figure behind Zuffa Boxing, has expressed his enthusiasm for Benn’s signing. “Conor Benn is an absolute beast and a superstar,” White said. “He shows up every time and destroys people, and now some of the best fighters in the world are calling him out. He’s ready for a world title next, and I can’t wait to see him compete in Zuffa Boxing. He’s going to be a huge addition to a growing stable of very talented boxers.”

Benn’s ambition and hunger for legacy fights are evident. He is determined to face the biggest challenges on the grandest stages, fearing no opponent at any weight. As he enters his prime, Benn and Zuffa Boxing have bold and ambitious plans for the future. Fans can expect thrilling matchups and unforgettable nights as Benn continues to make his mark in the world of boxing.
