In a night that left many boxing enthusiasts scratching their heads, Conor Benn secured a unanimous decision victory over Regis Prograis at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The fight, which took place on April 11, 2026, was a co-main event to the highly anticipated Tyson Fury vs Arslanbek Makhmudov bout. Benn’s performance, however, has raised more questions than answers about his future in the sport.

Benn, who entered the ring with a record of 24-1 and 14 KOs, faced off against the 37-year-old Prograis, who boasted a record of 30-3 and 24 KOs. Despite the age and weight disadvantage, Prograis proved to be a formidable opponent, pushing Benn to his limits over the course of ten rounds. Benn, known for his aggressive style, came forward for most of the fight but struggled to break down Prograis or force a decisive shift in momentum.

The lack of a post-fight interview or analysis immediately following the decision left many, including renowned boxing journalist Chris Mannix, questioning the broadcast’s handling of the event. Mannix, among others, wondered why there was no in-depth discussion or breakdown of Benn’s performance, which many deemed underwhelming given the circumstances.

Interestingly, Dana White, the boss of Zuffa Boxing, seemed to be one of the few impressed by Benn’s showing. White, who was in Miami for UFC 327, managed to catch Benn’s fight on Netflix before heading to the Kaseya Center. Despite the widespread criticism, White appeared relatively satisfied with Benn’s performance, especially considering the significant investment Zuffa Boxing made for the fight.

Benn’s future in the sport remains uncertain. His big-money signing with Zuffa Boxing was reportedly for just one fight, leaving his promotional future up in the air. Benn himself has admitted to being unfazed by the ‘noise’ surrounding his move to Zuffa Boxing, focusing instead on his training and preparation for his bouts.

The victory over Prograis, while a win on paper, has done little to silence the doubters. Benn’s struggle against an older opponent dealing with physical limitations has cast a shadow over his aspirations to challenge the top names at 147 pounds. As the dust settles on this controversial fight, the boxing world waits with bated breath to see what the next chapter holds for Conor Benn.
