David Haye Questions Usyk’s Undefeated Record: A Controversial Stance

In the realm of boxing, few records shine as brightly as an undefeated streak, especially when it’s built against a roster of formidable opponents. However, former cruiserweight and heavyweight champion David Haye has cast a shadow of doubt over Oleksandr Usyk’s pristine record, suggesting that a blemish should exist where none is currently acknowledged.

Haye, no stranger to the upper echelons of the sport himself, has openly stated that Usyk’s undefeated record is not as flawless as it appears. According to Haye, there was a particular fight where the judges’ decision was, in his opinion, incorrect, and Usyk should have tasted defeat. This bold assertion places Haye in a unique position, as both he and Usyk are part of an exclusive club of fighters who have achieved significant success in multiple weight classes.

Meanwhile, the heavyweight division continues to sizzle with activity. Moses Itauma, a rising star in the British heavyweight scene, made a resounding statement by becoming the first fighter to stop Jermaine Franklin. Unlike Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte, who both went the distance with Franklin, Itauma delivered a brutal knockout in the fifth round, showcasing his power and precision. This victory has amplified calls for the 21-year-old to challenge for a world title, with Itauma himself stating that Franklin was the ‘final piece of the puzzle’ before such a bout.

In other heavyweight news, former WBC interim champion Dillian Whyte has weighed in on the upcoming fight between Tyson Fury and Arslanbek Makhmudov. Whyte believes that Fury, known for his strategic fight selections, will have no trouble dispatching Makhmudov. Fury, who last fought in December 2024, is looking to bounce back from a loss to Usyk, while Makhmudov aims to build on his recent victory over David Allen.

The heavyweight landscape is further complicated by the potential for a showdown between Moses Itauma and Fabio Wardley, who share the same trainer, Ben Davison. Wardley, the current WBO champion, is set to defend his title against Daniel Dubois, while Itauma’s recent victory has earned him the approval of the WBO president, moving him closer to a mandatory challenger position. This scenario sets the stage for a ‘sticky situation’ should both fighters find themselves vying for the same belt.

As the heavyweight division continues to evolve, the interplay between these fighters and their respective paths to glory will undoubtedly keep fans on the edge of their seats. Whether it’s Haye’s controversial stance on Usyk’s record, Itauma’s rise to prominence, or the strategic maneuvers of Fury and Whyte, the world of boxing remains as unpredictable and thrilling as ever.
