As the anticipation builds for the monumental showdown at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 11, the boxing world is abuzz with speculation about Tyson Fury’s current form. The British heavyweight sensation is set to face Arslanbek Makhmudov in a bout that will be streamed worldwide on Netflix. However, questions linger about Fury’s condition and his ability to reclaim past glories.

Malik Scott, the former coach of Deontay Wilder, recently shared his insights on Fury’s career trajectory. Scott’s analysis paints a vivid picture of Fury’s decline, particularly after his grueling trilogy with Wilder. According to Scott, Fury has endured significant wear and tear, absorbing powerful blows from Wilder that have left a lasting impact.

“Fury experienced the full force of Wilder’s power,” Scott remarked. “The sheer intensity of those punches, delivered with 10-ounce gloves, took a toll on Fury. He was knocked down repeatedly, his equilibrium shaken, yet he persevered. This happened not just once, but across multiple fights. The cumulative effect of those punches, even the ones that didn’t floor him, has undoubtedly changed Fury.”

Scott’s observations extend beyond Fury’s bouts with Wilder. He points to Fury’s subsequent fights against Oleksandr Usyk and Dillian Whyte as further evidence of his decline. “Fury’s performances against Usyk and his victory over Whyte revealed a different fighter,” Scott noted. “He’s not the same man who once dominated the ring with ease.”

The question on everyone’s mind is whether Fury can reclaim his status as a world champion. Scott is skeptical, particularly about Fury’s chances against Usyk. “I personally don’t see Fury overcoming Usyk,” Scott admitted. “As he ages and remains inactive, the challenges will only intensify. The boxing world is filled with young, hungry fighters, and the Usyks of the world pose a significant threat.”

Despite his reservations, Scott acknowledges Fury’s unique abilities. “Fury is special,” he said. “He has a knack for pulling off the unexpected. It’s not impossible for him to stop Makhmudov in a few rounds. But we’ll have to wait and see.”

As the fight against Makhmudov approaches, Scott has weighed in on the challenger’s strengths. “I don’t think Makhmudov punches as hard as he looks,” Scott commented. “If he did, some of his previous fights might have ended differently. But Fury is a seasoned fighter, and if he can weather the storm, he might just have what it takes to emerge victorious.”

The stage is set for a thrilling encounter. As the boxing world watches with bated breath, one thing is certain: Tyson Fury’s resilience and determination will be put to the test like never before.
