In the realm of boxing, few events stir the excitement of a potential showdown between two formidable fighters. The buzz surrounding Michael Conlan’s possible return to New York has the boxing world abuzz with anticipation. The Belfast native, a super featherweight sensation, is rumored to grace the Big Apple with his presence, promising his loyal following another thrilling St. Patrick’s week celebration.

Conlan’s team, led by the astute Kevin Walsh, has added fuel to the fire by confirming ongoing discussions with Wasserman for a March 14 clash. The opponent in question is none other than one of Ireland’s most decorated amateurs, a fighter who has remained unbeaten in 19 bouts. Despite being slightly older than Conlan, this opponent is hailed as a breakout star, boasting an impressive collection of titles including the USA New England title, super featherweight and lightweight championships, and the WBC USA silver title.

Conlan, who has been honing his skills and shaking off the rust with recent victories over Asif Khan and Jack Bateson, was previously linked to high-profile bouts with former world champions Josh Warrington and Leigh Wood. However, those fights did not materialize as expected. Instead, the European featherweight champion Cristobal Llorente and his recent challenger Nathaniel Collins were considered as potential opponents. Yet, it seems the stars are aligning for a showdown with Walsh, a fighter who has made a significant impact stateside.

Conlan’s debut at Madison Square Garden on St. Patrick’s Day was nothing short of legendary, and he has since fought at the iconic venue on the same date three times. With 360 Promotions having secured the venue for Callum Walsh on March 17, the stage is set for two monumental Irish nights in New York during St. Patrick’s week. This not only promises a double dose of excitement for boxing enthusiasts but also opens up a plethora of undercard opportunities for emerging Irish talent.

As the boxing community eagerly awaits official confirmation, the prospect of Michael Conlan’s return to New York is already generating a palpable sense of anticipation. If the fight comes to fruition, it will undoubtedly be a highlight of the boxing calendar, drawing fans from around the globe to witness a spectacle of skill, determination, and Irish pride.
