In the ever-evolving landscape of women’s boxing, the discourse on its future trajectory has been particularly vibrant this week. Nakisa Bidarian, the co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, has articulated a compelling vision for what lies ahead for the sport’s luminaries, with a particular focus on Katie Taylor. Bidarian’s proposal centers around a potential bout between Taylor and the rising star Caroline Dubois, a matchup that could redefine the sport.

Caroline Dubois, at the tender age of 25, is poised to enter a pivotal phase in her career. As she prepares to face her rival Terri Harper with the unified lightweight titles at stake, Dubois is not merely content with in-ring success. Inspired by trailblazers like UFC star Ronda Rousey and tennis legends Serena and Venus Williams, Dubois aspires to leave an indelible mark on women’s boxing. Her ambition extends beyond personal accolades; she aims to shape the very fabric of the sport.

Bidarian, a staunch believer in Dubois’ potential, envisions her as the catalyst for a transformative era in women’s boxing. “I believe Caroline, at her age, has the opportunity to become the Ronda Rousey of women’s boxing,” Bidarian asserted. This sentiment underscores the high expectations placed on Dubois’ shoulders as she steps into the ring against Harper.

The upcoming Easter Sunday card in London is set to be a spectacle, featuring four women’s world title fights. The main event will see the undefeated WBC champion Caroline Dubois defend her title against WBO champ Terri Harper. This event, promoted by MVP, promises to be a thrilling display of women’s boxing prowess.

In a recent bout, Dubois showcased her mettle by flooring and bloodying Terri Harper, ultimately outpointing her British rival to become the unified lightweight world champion at London’s Olympia. After a slow start, Dubois’ classy jab and left hook in the sixth round sealed her victory. The judges’ scorecards read 98-91, 97-92, and 98-91 in favor of Dubois, who now holds both the WBC and WBO titles.

Reflecting on her victory, Dubois acknowledged the challenge posed by Harper. “Terri is very tricky; she navigated herself very well, and it was up to me to push the pace,” Dubois told BBC Radio 5 Live. This triumph brings Dubois one step closer to her goal of becoming the undisputed champion, although the path to stardom remains fraught with challenges.

As the boxing world eagerly anticipates the potential clash between Katie Taylor and Caroline Dubois, the sport stands on the cusp of a new era. With each bout, Dubois continues to carve her legacy, inspired by the greats who came before her and driven by a vision to elevate women’s boxing to unprecedented heights.
