In a highly anticipated cruiserweight clash, Jai Opetaia is poised to make his inaugural appearance under the Zuffa Boxing banner this Sunday, squaring off against the formidable Brandon Glanton. The Australian powerhouse, Opetaia, enters the ring with an unblemished record, boasting an impressive tally of 23 stoppage victories since his professional debut in 2015. His recent dominance on home soil has been nothing short of spectacular, with his last three bouts all concluding before the ninth round.

Opetaia’s meteoric rise to prominence was punctuated by a series of commanding performances on the Riyadh Season cards, including a notable triumph over former unified cruiserweight champion Mairis Briedis in 2022. His victory over Briedis, coupled with subsequent wins against Ellis Zorro and Jack Massey, has firmly established Opetaia as a force to be reckoned with in the cruiserweight division. The Australian’s decision to sign with Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing, following a successful stint with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing, has further fueled the hype surrounding his career.

Currently holding the IBF and Ring Magazine cruiserweight titles, Opetaia will not be defending his IBF belt against Glanton. Instead, the duo will vie for the newly minted Zuffa Boxing cruiserweight crown. Glanton, on the other hand, enters the contest riding the wave of a significant victory against Marcus Browne, which took place in Lagos, Nigeria last year. However, his journey to this bout has not been without setbacks, as he was previously outpointed by Chris Billam-Smith in a closely contested match.

The stage is set for this cruiserweight showdown at the Meta APEX Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, March 8th. The undercard bouts are scheduled to commence at 6pm local time, with the main event ring walks expected to take place at 9pm local time. Fans eager to witness this pivotal moment in Opetaia’s career can tune in to Paramount Plus, where a subscription can be purchased for as little as £4.99 per month or £43.99 per annum.

As the boxing world eagerly awaits this clash of titans, one cannot help but speculate about the future trajectory of Opetaia’s career. With his sights set on undisputed glory, the Australian sensation is poised to leave an indelible mark on the cruiserweight division. The inaugural Zuffa Boxing World Cruiserweight Championship bout promises to be a thrilling encounter, with both fighters leaving no stone unturned in their quest for victory.
